yeah, I will do a D.I.D here are the rules I will personally go by.

1:hardest difficulty.
2:no potions, food and resting only.
3:no HUD.
4:no fast travel.
5:no magic weapons or armor.

How can I make this any harder?

Yea, that's pretty tough. Lol. The way I do it in Oblivion is:

1: default difficulty
2: potions, food, and resting ok.
3: Compass covered up by electrical tape. Only consult map if I'm actually in a town
4: No fast travel
5: magic armor & weapons okay.

I'm interested in creating some sort of less hardcoe set of rules for my first play-through, especially limiting the amount of reloading I do. I have a friend who would reload anytime anything he didn't like happened, for example he'd always save before lockpicking and reload if one try failed to save on lockpicks.

I feel like when I'm learning the rules of the game, there needs to be some flexibility for this, but not much. I want to live with my mistakes and decisions as much as possible especially on my first play through.

after my first couple of playthrough i plan on doing a couple of DID games just to see how far i can get. anyone want to join in the punishment?

Personally, if I'm not dying frequently, it feels like the combat is not challenging enough.

I'll try it. After at least one play-through of course. I want to learn the ropes first. Something tells me I am gonna hate dragon strafes...

I used to play multiplayer ghost recon with my brother where dead was dead (no respawns). Trying to complete missions without dying was VERY trying. It made it so much more intense and yet so much more fun and rewarding (once you won that is). It makes you take every decision very seriously and honestly (in shooters anyways) makes you a better player.

Maybe, but health regeneration makes that a lot easier.
I mean, I did fine in Oblivion by spamming my heal, barely needed potions. Sold those for money (and a half-pound each, that added up and weighed me down)

If werewolves are in the game, I'll definitely make a DID werewolf character.

As a hardcoe roguelike player, I am going to do this from my first (maybe second :P) playthrough.

Simply the idea of this does not compute. So when i die, i give up on the toon i spent many a hours on? I see nothing of the sort ever happening.

I don't know how I could play like this. I mean, at the start I probably wouldn't mind, but say you get 50 hours in - or even more - would you really just start over? There's no way I would.

As mentioned here, playing DID really changes the dynamic. I use the save for when i finally get to bed, but other than that. Every decision is only made once, no reload, no charging into a dungeon to see how many enemies there are, dieing and then reloading.

It is addicting if you are patient.

Having said this i did put 312hrs on Obliv for one play through.

Ha Ha Ha Ha.... I eat dragons with spoons and potato peelers... the first dragon fight will probably be easy like a baby dragon or some nerfed up dragon now the second dragon on the other hand...

There's a snowball's chance in hell of me doing this. I don't need to be hardcoe, or prove to anybody (including myself) that I'm the best person at this game. I play if for fun, not to get frustrated that I sunk 40 hours into a game and died because I happened to get mobbed by goblins. No one will ever know whether you did or not anyway. I really like the characters I create, I get into it, and I already feel bad enough when they die because I got in over my head. I know a lot of people like to struggle with every mob they come upon but I like to stride through the world like a god smiting my enemies.
