Wait is that like, if you die, you can't start over?
I dont think I'm intense enough for that.

^You can start over you just can't load a previous game with the same character ie he's DEAD.

That should be Bethesda's 'hardcoe Mode' ; Dead is Dead

I'll try it I guess.

I would try it, but I feel it would be too much like a diet and I would cheat.

exactly. i had never done it before but then a DID thread for fallout new vegas popped up and i decided to give it a shot. its actually alot of fun. its the closest you will get to getting into a real life fight. you tend to treat every enemy seriously instead of just nonchalanty whizzing through like you do in a normal game cause you know you can just reload and it makes for a much more intense game overall. its simply cant be duplicated in a normal save/load game. its actually kind of addicting.

there are exceptions of course for things like bugs or getting killed because you got stuck in some geometry or something else. but i you died because of something you did then you have to start over. :) i highly recommend everyone try this at least once.

edit: you can start over you just cant reload your existing character

I probably will. But I'm probably going to do it on easy. I always play on easy no matter what mode I'm doing, I prefer the RP more than the combat.

I'll give it a shot. Especially if you are new to a game this will give me an extra portion of thrill.
You dont know tips for fighting and dont really know who you can beat and who you cant. This'll be a lot of fun, you'll be thinking twice about the consequences if you attack someone!

cheers

I think it definitely adds more tension to combat but I already know I'd cheat. Especially as I want to turn up the difficulty somewhat that and the combination of no knowing the new fights nuances makes me think lots of deaths are in store.

So if you die after 15 hours of gameplay, you just restart without finishing the game?

I'll try it after the first play-through. If I'm lucky I'll never die and I can say I did good, haha.

I think playing a dead is dead game would make YOU the wimp :) You would avoid combat unless absolutely necessary (or if you knew 99% that you would win). I want a challenge, and if that means I die a few times figuring it out, so be it. I don't want to throw 60 hours of gameplay away because I didn't know character X was immune to fire.

after my first couple of playthrough i plan on doing a couple of DID games just to see how far i can get. anyone want to join in the punishment?

ill join you bro, im doing Dead Is Dead my first playthough =P
but im doing it alittle differently by adding 3 rules
1. my first 5 Dragon encounters WONT COUNT, because dragons are frinken bosses, after im use to them then ill count dragons
2. im giving myself 1 life, one restart chance
3. random deaths dont count, example if i purposly want to kill myself for whatever reason then im not going to count it, also if i die by a glitch then that wont count as well

but other then that im playing dead is dead, its awesome and i suggest hardcoe players to try it, you feel like your in the world and you give every single enemy respect because they can restart your entire progress.... it can svck though, as i was taking stim pacs i stept on a mine on my way to Hover Dam for the last misson with the yes man....oh that svcked so badly i had to delete my 2 saves without even thinking about it

and if your doing Dead is Dead your first playthough, i suggest not counting your first dragon encounters. Dragon are a different type of NPC and its fighting them would be unlike anything we have ever encountered in TES

Nope. I like to explore and do stupid things like venture into areas i have no business being in. So it wouldn't work well for my play style. I will be playing on the hardest difficulty i can though. (if the difficulty settings works the same as falout3)

eh, neat Idea for making fights more meaningful (live on or throw away the x hours I've put into this game)
I think I'll at least have 1 respawn if I do try it
