Anyone else got bored of Fallout 3 easily?

@mirocu - Do browse through the Fallout 3 Modding forums as there are quite a few threads regarding what mods to get or recommended mods. Or start your own thread there, the modding forums may be on their death bed but a few of us still post there
Yeah well, I′m not entirely sure I will get it. I′ve been looking in its direction for a while and maybe I should give it a go as an alternate game to Oblivion. We′ll see :)

You won't regret getting this game. The world is pretty large and the NPC's are full of life and dialogue.

Is that when you can aim like irl instead of using a floating cursor?

Outta town.... I think it's a fantastic game. I mean really. Yes, there are some annoyances, as with all games. It's very fleshed out, and hilarious and extremely sad at times. I cracked out on it for a couple months when it was released. I take breaks from all games and rotate them when I have time, currently: Oblivion, FO3, Mass Effect2 and Fable 3. I'd give it a shot anyway, try playing it at least three times, to follow the different karma paths, and don't do everything on one character.

If I do get it I think I will approach it the same way as any game; with one character. I like to bond with my creation, if I create several it would feel like shallow acquaintances instead of someone I really care about.

But I think I′m convinced. Next paycheck-day, I think I′ll place an order ;)

Not for me, keeps me interested, I just bounce between Bethesda games, and most of the time it keeps me interested, usually it's Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim, Fallout 3 and Fallout NV

I enjoyed fallout 3 for the exploration but HATED DC. FNV is my favorite game and beyond the great quests is the atmosphere. I think it is because I live in the southwest lol

I played several years non stop for Morrowind. Oblivion lasted several months but only after installing over 100 quality mods. Fallout 3 lasted me less than a week. Another week after installing a number of mods and I have to say there's not a lot to choose from, probably because when you remove the fantasy element, a lot of quest mods are ruled out.

Now I only play Fallout 3 once in a while, and only because of Real-Time Settlers New Wave mod. There's nothing in vanilla Fallout 3 I found fun. Fallout 3 lacked the epic play one time storyline like Witcher 1&2, yet didn't have decent repeatable quests to make a decent open ended game.
You must have the attention span and head for exploration of a block of cheese, Come on mate there is an enormous open world, with tonnes of large, detailed, dangerous, buildings, even without mods or DLC there are unbelievable amounts of things to do. And if you're getting bored and feel you've done everything possible with this game in 2 weeks, then you need some DLC, a higher difficulty and frankly... help.

Plus FO3 has something many other games don't, It makes every minute a struggle for survival just like it would in a post apocalyptic hell hole, it manages to be realistic in terms of your character is not some invincible super soldier for a lot of the game but some crazy kid frsh from the vault just trying to survive, its the same story for 90% of the NPCs and I find this flawed aspect of the characters a very endearing and realistic quality, this for me sets it apart from say Oblivion. (Don't get me wrong it's one of my favourite games.) It's just so much more immersive since the characters are more like people, than voice actors mono-tonally reading lines of a page represented by a bunch of pixels. :fallout:

I am new to this game - have started in January - but wanted to play since 2008. I was a huge fan of Fallout 2 back in 90th, but now I can say that after 30 hours of play I am quite bored as well - I'm trying to set aside main quest and go exploring - but it is quite same everywhere - now I ask myself before entering some huge building or other thing - do I want to spend time just walking through the floors and killing same people/creatures? I am level 20 at the moment and progressing quite fast and I still have half of the world to explore and all DLCs but feel no excitement to do that anymore :(
I am playing on PS3 so no Mods allowed. Maybe I should try FONV - what is the major difference between them?

The major difference is in my opinion that New Vegas has better characters, a better story, adds new interesting lore without breaking it, gives unbelievable amount of choice, is actually an RPG, does not give your age, does not force you to help anyone, has hardcoe Mode, adds traits again, the level to perk ratio is 2:1 instead of 1:1 and better dialogue. This is all my opinion, but if your a bit bored with Fallout 3 then give New Vegas a try. Its definitely a lot more in-tune with the classics. People do sometimes say that Fallout 3 had better exploration, but that's entirely subjective and in either case is not really what Fallout is all about.

Despite everything I just said I did really enjoy my time in the Capital Wasteland. It is a great game.

So if I should get only ONE game, what would you recommend? FO3 or FONV?

Depends on what you're looking for. If what you're looking for is simply a post apocalyptic TES then Fallout 3 would be more up your alley, because New Vegas is more in line with Fallout and Fallout 2 than it is TES and Fallout 3. If you want to read an in depth discussion about the differences between the two games there's actually http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1344218-what-can-i-expect-to-find-different-from-fo3/ about just that.

I'd recommend New Vegas if you're only going to get one, though if you play New Vegas first then it will be difficult to go back to Fallout 3. I agree with Talonfire and look at that thread to see what you want more. It will most likely be easier to go from Oblivion to Fallout 3 since they are fairly similar in certain aspects, but I do personally feel that New Vegas is the better game.

Since you're coming from an Morrowind/Oblivion background and no previous Fallout background then Fallout 3 may be easier for you to get into. It'd be a good introduction into the series for you I think. New Vegas is more advanced however with the deeper dialogue, choices during quests, the reputation system and numerous crafting options.

You can get Fallout 3 Game of the Year edition for about $20 or Fallout New Vegas Ultimate Edition for $40.

F3 may be easier to get into, but NV is by far the better game.
Only a few times have I been blown away by interactions in games(NPC, dialoge, choices, action and consequence etc.) and NV is one of those games.
I literally feel for some of the people I have met in NV, the characters are just that fleshed out. All the companions have a story, and if you spend enough time with a comp you'll actually get a personal quest.

I could go on for days about NV, it's a very very good game.
(and the exploration isint bad at all, it was better than F3 IMO. But I love westerns so that definitley helped with my vote for which is better)

I like westerns too, I′m just not sure how much. I do like the revolver and the rifles of that period and I very much like the real aim system. Maybe I will get that but a few more questions.

1. Is NV in any way connected to Steam if I buy a disc from a retailer like Skyrim is?

2. Is NV comparable to Deus Ex? By that I mean is there any room for free exploring or can you only go to new areas during the MQ?

Thanks in advance guys! Very good info I get here from you :foodndrink:

1. New Vegas will connect to Steam even if you buy the disc.

2. I haven't played Deus Ex, but about 98% of the Mojave is open to you as soon as you start the game.

Ok, so I cannot play NV without Steam? Fallout 3 it is then...

Damn, yeah here..

Just, the game tired me like hell, i usually found my self tired and headache after playing for a while..
Ok i was using some hardcoe mods, and time to time i enjoyed that "hardcoe" situation a lot, like once at the nuka-cola factory, that was the one of the most awesome plays of my life, managing my inverntory, limited ammo.. And foods, alchols, drugs.. scaring with every bit of my step, seeing the world in "orange" due the drugs^^

Yeah but, long story short, it tired and bored me even in vanilla version.. The thing is, it is just too slow and choppy i guess..

In the other hand fallout new vegas and skyrim (specially nw) was JUST A MASTERP?ECE!! Havent seen any better game except, baldurs gate maybe, in my life..
