Anyone else got bored of Fallout 3 easily?

Ok, so I cannot play NV without Steam? Fallout 3 it is then...

You can have steam in Offline mode and play Fallout New Vegas.

Like Skyrim then. But anything that has to do with Steam is off-limits to me.

Well for whatever your reasons if Steam is completely off-limits to you even in Off-line mode, you're left with Fallout 3 then. However FO3 uses Games for Windows Live but there is a "disabler" you can download so you won't have to connect to GFWL whatsoever.

Here is a description of GFWL: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Games_for_Windows_%E2%80%93_Live. It is an optional service and is not required to play the game. Personally, I have never connected to the site, so I cannot give you any insight as to what it does.

I think for Fallout 3 all it does is track your achievements but I'm not sure as to what else other than being big-brother (anti-cheat, piracy crap). I use the script extender so GFWL has always been disabled for me.

It's basically so PC players can have access to Xbox360 achievements, aswell as it gives the player online support/ a sort of community.
BTW, get NV. You'll be very happy. Or just get both, F3: GOTY was under $10, and NV was under $20(used)
That's 2 great games for under $30, ya can't beat it.

No internet connection?
I have that on that PC. I just have a problem when being forced into this and that. If I had an option of connecting to Steam then it would be fine, but when it is required

FO3 - No internet required whatsoever?
NV- Internet required?

Did I get it right? Call me a reactionist but I simply refuse to get a Steam account for just playing a game.

Well you'll still be required to get http://fallout3.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=1086 mod then you won't have to connect to the internet with Fallout 3 whatsoever.

Steam isn't bad, I used to feel the same way a few years ago about having to connect to a service to play a game. I got over that fear and I use Steam almost exclusively to purchase games, especially when they're on sell.

But once it's installed you can almost forget about it. You don't have to worry about logging in each time, just set it up to auto-log on when you start your computer. Except for an update every now and then and the pop-ups when you get an achievement in-game (if supported) you won't really know Steam is there as it stays in the background.

But if you're adamant about not using Steam then I suppose Fallout 3 will be the one to get.

@Mirocu,
I'm with you. No way will I get SkyRim or FO/NV. They have no need to know when and for how long I play the game. They have no ligit reason to keep tabs on my game playing.

Exactly, and who says it′s gonna stop there? No, if I buy the game and they get the money that should be it. If I want spyware I can get it anyway, I don′t need to buy it.

Steam actually saved my butt. I deleted some Skyrim screenshots and accidentally deleted a game file. All my saves were corrupt and then I ran verify cache integrity and it installed the missing file and everything was well. I had Steam for years and I never had issues with it. Then again, I'm not paranoid either! =p hahahaha ;)

Now to the OP: How can you get bored with FO 3 within a week? There is SO much to explore! I'm always getting side tracked from my quests! LOL I'm at work and all I can think of is where I should go first tonight. I have YET to find the GNR building. Man, I must have walked all around it (my map shows locations I've discovered in a close circle around the GNR building LOL), but I never actually found THAT! So, I played for hours in the subway tunnels and then I had to port back to Megaton, to unload my goodies and then it was bed time already! YAY for the weekend!

If you like post-apocalyptic Urban settings, I highly, highly recommend Fallout 3! Amazing game!!!!! It will keep me busy for quite a while!

Yeah within a week seems almost impossible. Even playing 10 hours a day you would only get 70 hours in a week. Not much and with that time you cannot explore all of the fallout 3 stuff. Well maybe if you are power questing then, but you can powerquest morrowind and other games fast as it too.

First save i had 160 hours, second i think had 70 hours, and third had over 200 hours of gameplay. And im sure im not counting all my chars.

And no im not bored easily to fallout 3 and im not bored now either.

Actually I prefer thriving forests like in Oblivion, but I′d like something to mix it up a bit with :)
And about the saves, I always make backup folders

Here is a good one for all.I never played a FO game untill AFTER I got hooked on Skyrim.I actually had a copy of FO 3 just sitting there for about a year after I bought it. (which I got for .$1.99 @ a 7-11,for the PC version no less!) So I installed FO3 about 3 weeks ago and I havent stopped playing it since then.Ive even stoppped playing Skyrim,in favor of FO3.To me the FO universe is so much more interesting then TES universe.I cant wait to start NV!

JK dude, F3 is a good game, just not a good Fallout game.
Hopefully you end up wanting more, which will bring you to NV.

You know what you could do, since you are worried about Steam. You could buy Fallout, Fallout 2 and Fallout Tactics and play them :D
