anyone else having trouble deciding race?

Post » Tue Oct 18, 2011 5:48 pm

i was really thinking it was between khajiit and argonian but now, im thinking dark elf aswel just because they are so well rounded. i actually think on release day i might write down all the race names, put them into a hat and play through the first race i pull out. apart from wood elf im kinda racist toward them.

Yeah I know what you mean, I'm having trouble deciding between two races and classes I've worked out.
I'm either going with my longstanding RP character, Garlus Redoran, a fanatical Tribunal worshipping, necromancer hunting Witchhunter.
Or a new RP character that I'm thinking up for Skyrim, a heavily armored Sorcerer Nord who's searching for the secret of immortality.

I was exited to play a Khajiit on 1st play-through as I've done that in every ES game but now I'm thinking of being a Bosmer

I normally play Breton first but thats not set in stone. I'll see what skills/traits the different races have and then make up my mind from there.

I'm usually a magic user so I was thinking either Breton or Altmer, but the gritting, rough environment of Skyrim is telling me I want to be a Nord or Orc - so I just don't know! Not to mention, Argonian's look absolutely BA now and the new stealth system sounds awesome. Too much choice, Bethesda really do spoil us

I did have a problem. I knew the feel of my characters but not the best race. Turns out it's redguard.

Why don't you describe your char by personality and stuff then we'll decide the race.

I think I'm going to play as a Nord this time round, I played a dunmer in Oblivion, I think I may play them as my second then an Altmer or Imerial for my third.

I usually do Argonian. But I think I'm going Breton this time around, they look really bad ass in this game. Going to do a mix of everything. Mainly Warrior and stealth. Along with magic and archery.

I've been very torn, part of me wanted to play Nord for Skyrim, though I didn't want to feel like the default dovahkiin. The solution I'm currently going with is to just play a female Nord (Male in real life), and I think I'd enjoy doing so - but I suspect I'm not the only the who will be at least partially unsure once we actually get in front of the character creation screen, so everything is open to change.

I always have that problem. But right now I think I'm either going with Khajiit or Nord.
Or maybe even Orc. hmm..

I'm really boring when it comes to choosing characters in TES Games (Any many games in general, really.) I just go for the generic, Imperial. But I create diverse back stories and delve into them :)
I'll probably play my second play through as an Argonian though, as I did in Oblivion.

All the races don't look gimpy anymore but I'm still going to play a Khajiit on my first playthrough.

Answer to your question - play them all! Have a bunch of different characters, use a different playstyle with each of them.

I'm going with Argonian. But in the end its your choice OP. I assume you read the lore for those 3 races? You should just choose what interests you the most, and if that still doesn't help you make up your mind. Roll a die, or flip a coin.

I always choose the native race in each elder scrolls game to be more realistic, it makes sense if you start the game there you should be the race that was born there.

Yeah sorta. I know I'm going to try Orc just because they look so awesome now but I also want to take advantage of the racial abilities that match the playstyle I want to do. And to be honest I'm not really one of those gamers who can play the game over again a second or third time just to try something different. I guess I'll have to for TES games though.

I was having trouble at first until I saw screenies of skyrim orcs, they look so much cooler and crueler than the oblivion orcs so I'm picking my race not by racial bonuses but just on what I want to spend hours looking at in game :D

I'm doing at least 3 concurrent games, 1 for each type - I'm thinking Nord, Bosmer & Khajiit but tempted by argonians and orcs and dunmners cos they look amazing...anyone know if the character presets were 360 screens cos the argonians look really hi res to me.

Nope. I have a build planned for every race except Dunmer (who I won't play as) Imperial, and Kahjiit. Imperial I might play as a focus on Speech if speech isn't horrendous this time around. Kahjiit will be hard to find something for...
