Anyone else kind of bummed that there'll be no more Fallout

Maybe they blow us away in Fallout 4 by going coastal...I know the Gamebryo engine has issues with masses of NPCs, but [censored] it, I've always wanted some kind of major city. Not 20 supermutants and a subway system. But an actual full sized city that has become the biggest trading hub in the US.

i liked fallout 3 and will be waiting for fallout 4......so there..........if i didnt know better i would swear lonesome road was done by bethesda.......

I liked fallout3 too but the writing in it was sub-par when comparred to N.V.... I like to sink 3-4 hundred hrs in my play thru's... so having better charecterization , more narritive, and more questing means alot...

Fallout3 was good.... I loved it.... but the world was rather stagnent after you finish the main quest...

whiny stoner voice: " but I like the more post apocoliptic atmosphere man... " yeah atmosphere is nice an all but after 100+ hrs it becomes FAR less impactfull than compelling story and deeply written charecters... how much of the personalaty of a place can be atributed to its inhabitants? What is New York with out New Yorkers.... not much just a dense group of buildings.

As far as lonesome road seeming like it was done by Bethesda.... LOL the set up for the LR dlc alone was writing done on a level thats never come from Beths studios

{edit}

I am a fan of Bethesda games.... and I cant wait for skyrim.... I just really dont want to see the deeper rpg that Obsidian delivered us be a one shot

Fallout: New Vegas was indeed the best Fallout game imo... I hope they kinda go for the same "setting" sort of in Fallout 4...Fallout 3 was a bit too "dark" at some parts if you ask me....I enjoyed New Vegas a lot more, especially cus of how you can "form" your own character... Will probably be going through New Vegas a couple of more times after CS and GRA has been released :) I kinda felt sad after I finished Lonesome Road...that DLC was EPIC!

To be frankly honest I don't think you can make a generalized comment about whats more important to peoples game experience. Not everyone thrives on hearing about the history of shantytownnumber4. I personally, cherished my long wanders through the wasteland looking for small survivor settlements, then learning the back story of the sniper group in camp McCarran. Not saying the amount of story and intrigue in NV was a bad step, just saying it be nice to have both. Oh and to answer your question "What is New York with out New Yorkers?" Heaven.

~ Also kinda ironic to make a joke about whiney stoners when your avatar is Leo.

I preferred NV to FO3. As most here have said, for the story.

I dont like the paladin-esque choises I have to make in FO3. And being evil or cunning just translates to "stupid and vicious" in FO3. In Vegas I can string all of the factions along getting them to see me as the born again christ and then backstab the [censored] out of them whilst still being a nice guy... or... at least not just reduced to a thug. In Vegas there are people that, at a glance might seem evil, but really.... are not. There are all the traditional (well more or less) oldschool RPG alignments represented across the wasteland and the story is just more plausible and the choises more interesting... well... short of Honest Hearts where the protagonist goes prancing around zion like "Dances with Anti-material rifles".

This is why I want Beth to just leave Fallout to Obsidian, seriously, in terms of Open World RPGs Beth just needs to stick with TES.

I don't think the sieres should abandon the motherf*cker who brought it out of its grave. More collaboration I say.

In an ideal world, Bethesda and Obsidian would work together and co-develop it. JE Sawyer knows his guns and goes all-out in his research (I've seen pics of how similar the real Goodsprings and the game one is, it's uncanny, not to mention Zion- Bethesda are great researchers too, but they're more liberal with artistic license- you can tell that Washington DC is Washington DC, but it's different enough that it's not the DC that everyone knows), and Mr. Chris Avellone can write the hell out of just about anything (as can the other Obsidian designers).
But Bethesda are top-notch dungeon designers, and they're amazing at really upping the creepy The Hills Have Eyes factor with their mutants. But both studios write Great War holotapes that send chills up your spine.

Yous summed up my feelings exactly, but I doubt it will ever happen. :sadvaultboy:

Just about every imaginary voice in my head is a stoner voice LOL

And New York with out New Yorkers might be heaven.... but then it wouldnt really be New York.

And... yeah you're right I cant decide whats a more important game element of other people... I'm not really trying to... Just stating the way I feel and what is important to me.

In the evolution of the game from FO3 to N.V. the game gained far more than it lost...

" You cant go around deciding what is and is true for other people!!! Why I oughta...."

" Hey back off man... I wasnt trying to man...."

I guess it's part of the Bethesda cycle I've become accustomed to.

After Oblivion and it's expansions there was a wait before Fallout 3, another wait between that and New Vegas and after a few weeks wait it'll be Skyrim time and even though I know it will be a good game, I can't help the feeling that it's going to be bad for my health and social life

Gives me time to go back to Oblivion.

We all could use a break from Fallout, not just from Bethesda's Fallout, but also Obsidian's version of it as well, So no, I'm not really bummed that there'll be no Fallout for a while...besides, for the next couple of years, we will have TES to keep us occupied.

I enjoy both versions and will not choose a favorite, nor will I entertain the idea of Obsidian either taking over the franchise or doing Fallout 4 instead of Beth. They own the franchise now, get over it.

I would propose an idea that has already been floated around before, even if it's unlikely to happen. A collaboration of sorts between the two would (IMO) work out fantastic for the next fallout title. Like them or not, Bethesda does make some pretty good games, they have had some success making games in the past.

I've said this in a similar thread, but I'm not done with New Vegas. Taking a huge break, but I still have 2 end game paths that I haven't done. Plus, I can't wait to see if there's an awesome mod out when I finally return. Anyway . . . I do wish for a new game soon, and to go into it blind (while not get disappointed by crap writing), but I'm fine with waiting.

Even if the next fallout isnt outsourced to obsidian. i am pretty confident that they will use the best from each game.

Fixed.

The next Fallout title will not be outsourced. If people don't like it, tough [censored]. Get over it. Bethesda will be making Fallout 4, there will be no Fallout fillers the way New Vegas is, between now and then.

Like it or not Beth owns the franchise now, nothing anybody here can do to change it, all the [censored]ing in the world won't change that fact.

Read my previous post, you'll see that I'm not opposed to a collaboration between the two...in fact, I rather like the idea. To expect Bethesda to just hand over the reigns of the Fallout series to another developer after they went through the time and trouble of purchasing the rights to that franchise is, to put it mildly, ludicrous.

They say longing makes the heart grow fonder...

But I say we should tie up the writers from Obsidian, the designers from Bethesda, use slave collars so they cannot get away and force them at gun point to make new Fallout games.

Im mixed. One hand I love FNV. Other hand, I want Obsidian to make more games. Im sad F:NV is finished, but who knows maybe Obsidian will make some other great IPs and focus fully on that instead of fallout dlc. Then I hope zenimax gets Obsidian back to do a future fallout. They could jsut alternate, Bethesda does one to appease bethesda fans, then Obsidians fallout for Obsidian fans. If you like both, lucky you.

Ah well still got other games, fallout has taken lots of my time. Will take more. Add in more alpha protocal, deus ex, kingdoms of amalur and the other older games im finally getting around to playying. I will be fine for some tiem. Still sad, fallout NV has been one of the best gaming experiences I have had in some time.

I just hope they keep the apocalyptic theme alive, I felt the theme start to slip in FNV. I didn't feel that I was in an apocalyptic world -- like the way I felt in FO3. In FNV I felt like I lived in a desert, with people that kill each other. It felt more like a survivor sandbox game more than an apocalyptic sandbox game.

I hope the next FO game will stick with the end of the world theme and the Vault theme because it's all that FO is known for, I'm just saying that FNV strayed from both and didn't feel as much as a Fallout game that all the others did.

These are my feelings *exactly*. :foodndrink:

I have 700 hours into F3 and counting. On X-Box, without mods. And I do not do drugs.

Your opinion, like mine, is not a fact.
