Oblivion's Dark Elves made me cry inside, being used to seeing rough, chiseled people of Vvardenfell and then being slapped in the face with bloaty-headed wimps who sound like they should be characters in a children's cartoon. Even if we didn't get back the "ash voices" from Morrowind, I'm really glad that at least Dunmer now look like they should - ugly, but not in the bad way. The same goes for all the elves, really - Altmer were a similar disappointment in Oblivion, and why wouldn't they have been, since they looked exactly like the dunmer. Now they have the weird, exotic beauty that you'd expect from the High Elves. A bit conflicted about the Bosmer, though - a little too rugged for my taste, but once again, an improvement.

I first started TES with oblivion. I hated all elves/mer races literally I would only play argonian, imperial, khajiit or redguards. I despised how elves looked and sounded. When I saw the elves in the screenshots released early in the year I knew I would probably at least try them. I had always liked the stats of bosmer but I hated how they looked.

Now to skyrim my first character was a bosmer which I really enjoyed playing. Then I decided I would make a Dunmer that was really evil. I started a Dunmer male and I realised how much I love their art design. I made a really evil looking Dunmer; narrow face, pretty long face with full White war paint and red eyes. Once I'd tweaked a few more settings I had created my perfect character. He looked extremely evil and cruel.

Anyone else like the Dunmer art style?

Yep, I love their design a lot.

Same if true for all the Elven races - Altmer, Dunmer and Bosmer. Their art style is great.

I really like the work Bethesda has put into giving each race a destinct look here.

Oblivion was wall-to-wall pac man heads. You could feasibly make something different but the vanilla game's heads were like round balloons.

 True, the improvements in the head department are huge.

I kind of likes some of the Dumner from the oblivion. This chick was totally hot until I found out about her fetish.

No more puffy faces! I love how all the races look and the Dunmer and Altmer are amazing which makes me happy being a big fan of both.
Just not much of a fan of the voices as I want Dunmer to sound like they've been smoking cigars for over two centuries straight.

Finally was able to create a seriously evil looking Dunmer with a whited out eye and scar running along it. To me they are the logical evolution from the way they looked in Morrowind with their gaunt faces.

they look as they did in morrowind menacing iron willed gray skinned and cursed much better than there models in oblivion which where just humans splashed with blue paint given pointy ears red centered eyes and annoying oblivion bosmer voices.

YES I love the Dunmer in Skyrim! I think they really captured their rugged, weathered, stern look. The Dunmer in Oblivion were awful. They were way too dumpy looking and cheery sounding. The Dunmer come from a long line of intense hardship and bitter struggle, and they live in a land that's been torn apart by war, natural disasters and supernatural disasters for millennia. They have been toughened by their harsh living, especially in recent years. I really think that Skyrim has captured the essence of the Dunmer, in both their looks and their voices.

I'm with pretty much everybody else here. The males look great. My Dunmer is not evil but is definitely self-absorbed so his look fits him well. The voices of the NPCs really bothered me at first, but I don't really notice it anymore. Lost potential here. Also agree the females could look more attractive.

High elves, great in all respects.

Wood elves, a little disappointed. They look too similar to the other two. I actually preferred their childish nature and huge heads in Oblivion...as seen by my avatar. They could have 'streamlined' their heads without taking all of the mischief... seems the Khajiit got it all in Skyrim.
