Anyone else like the look of Dunmer in Skyrim?

Post » Fri Dec 16, 2011 7:04 am

I first started TES with oblivion. I hated all elves/mer races literally I would only play argonian, imperial, khajiit or redguards. I despised how elves looked and sounded. When I saw the elves in the screenshots released early in the year I knew I would probably at least try them. I had always liked the stats of bosmer but I hated how they looked.

Now to skyrim my first character was a bosmer which I really enjoyed playing. Then I decided I would make a Dunmer that was really evil. I started a Dunmer male and I realised how much I love their art design. I made a really evil looking Dunmer; narrow face, pretty long face with full White war paint and red eyes. Once I'd tweaked a few more settings I had created my perfect character. He looked extremely evil and cruel.

Anyone else like the Dunmer art style?

Definitely. High Elves look good too, but I think Bosmer look a bit creepy...

I love the new look of Mer. They actually look like a different species than yellow/purple people and large black eyed Asians.

Totally. They now look like an updated version of MW's dunmer. But actually all faces have improved since Oblivion.

I forgot to mention but I also hated orcs in oblivion. However I made one in Skyrim and I believe it's the first time I have achieved perfection in TES :P

This. Bosmer had such oompa loompa faces in TES4. LOL.

Dunmer do look hella BA. Ever talk to the Merch of Windhelm? I love how you walk in and you can't even see his eyes or even most of his face because its covered in shadow.

They definately look WAY eviler then Oblivion. Looked like harmless Smurfs in that game ahaha..

Oblivion was wall-to-wall pac man heads. You could feasibly make something different but the vanilla game's heads were like round balloons.

My first and only Skyrim char so far is Dunmer.

The Dunmer look pretty good, but I hate the voices. What happened to Arvel's voice from the demo?

Yes and no. The males look great, but the females aren't exactly lore accurate. Female Dunmer are supposed to be highly desired, and...um, adventurous. Those wrinkles below their eyes do not fit this.

Male Dunmer, absolutely spot on. They are perfect, exactly as they should be, Rugged and harsh, just like their homeland.

Female Dunmer are okay, I like them except for the horrid bags under their eyes, I got rid of those immediately. It doesn't make much sense for a young Dunmer woman to look like that, they never did in Morrowind so yeah. It would be fine as a complexion option, but not as a forced standard for all Dunmer women regardless of age.

I have yet to make any elf so far, but I am definitely going too, the way they look is just perfect and I have a good character right now and was thinking about an evil one and a Dunmer would be perfect for that.

They are much more distinct, which I like, though It would be cool if your character had that chain-smoker gravel voice from Morrowind.

This is absolutely true. The Mer are awesome this time around though, they have their proper feral/alien look back rather then being humans with pointy ears.

Yes I am happy they did not go for the Legolas type of elves. To be honest the first preset of the High Elves scared the hell out of me but my High Elves look awesome with his might black beard of doom.

Yea , a little tweaking here and there and the Dunmer looks perfect. I actually don't mind the eyebags anymore too, felt like that's one of their unique facial feature, not modding that out. :P

Same here :D Other than smoothing out the blocky face textures on all the races, I don't think I'm going to touch any cosmetic mods, I think everyone looks perfect.

I do still miss the raspy voices on the dunmer men though :(
