Is anyone else a little disappointed in the video responses?

Post » Wed Aug 18, 2010 11:49 am

I'm sorry if this kind of topic isn't allowed, but I'm not showing any spoilers or anything so I figured it would be okay.

A lot of the videos shown from people who have gotten Brink early have been very negative to the games and personally I blame the person playing the game. I just wanted to know is anyone else disappointed that some people are actually looking at these videos and taking the opinions of the people seriously?

I think only one person has got the game early, and to be honest you cant really get a good review of the game until you can play it, which he/she couldn't.

It doesn't bother me if people will/won't buy the game.

What worries me is how bad the people playing these leaked copies are. I mean, this is supposed to be our "competition?" Ha.

Yeah. Thats what I'm saying, but it seems like a lot of people are actually looking at the videos and going "WOW THIS svckS!". One guy who did a video about it was like "Is this really the only game mode? If so I probably won't play this game much".

the people playing the game early either don't know about the D1P, don't know about the game in general ,or both, and should not be taken seriously, at all, ever. This is not a CoD clone, which many of the vidoes i have seen point towards the player having the the mindset that is a clone, and trying to rate it as such.

Yeah my friend saw one of the videos and his opinion changed from excited to "Eh this game looks really slow...." Which is entirely the fault of the person playing it.

This thread might get locked, since it pertains to pre-release play. (shrug)

Anyway, I haven't watched the vids, but from what other people have told me, the people who posted them are rather awful at the game or are otherwise playing it in a very un-Brink-like manner (against bots, no less, because they're playing it before the rest of us can).

If people latch onto the words of someone posting for mere attention value and ignoring Brink's mission as a team game, then I won't miss those people.

I don't see what people are complaining about. Every video of xbox gameplay Ive seen looks great.. well besides the guy that is playing svcks and he's with bots... not the point.. Game looks great, sounds great, and appears to respond smoothly.. AND they're releasing a day 1 patch to make it better? hellz yeah! sounds good to me.

I certainly hope it doesn't get locked. I'm not trying to point out the flaws of Brink I'm just trying to get some support that this game is played differently than most games and the people who are releasing the reviews are playing the game in a way that is more TDM and less of a team objective game.

I heard it improves mem-caching on the hard drive or something like that.

It is fixing some online network issues on the Xbox 360, it wont affect actual gameplay, well it does help to reduce lag but that only matter in online mode.

on the xbox, the D1P (start using it or else!) improves rendering and draw distance, which is apparently a problem with the xobx version. it also adds a little more polish to the game for all systems i believe.

In my opinion, anyone who thinks a game is bad because they're bad is a noob. It does kind of worry me though that most people who've gotten the game early so far have been saying bad things about it. My worst fear about Brink is that it will turn into a niche game and will die quickly.

Well, as you can see other people have posted other things the patch does so yeah...Also I agree I don't want people's opinions to be affected because of people playing the game the wrong way. My worst fear is someone who actually knows how to play the game reviews it and gives it a bad review.

More like, multiple people who are good at it give it a bad review. I'm honestly not worried about one person saying it's a bad game because that's only going to affect... like what a few people?

I also doubt that the game will receive bad reviews. There's always a chance that Brink will totally fail, but the game looks, sounds, and feels pretty solid.

I feel that it will do well too, but until its in my hands my opinion can only go so far and these people have it in theirs :\.

This.

This game can and will be played at a very fast pace when players start to get use to the feel of the game.

And yes, every person who has gotten the game early plays the game at a very slow, and boring pace. I couldn't watch any game if someone plays the game like that, even my beloved halo 2. There will be much better gameplay out after release.

Exactly what I told him. I pointed out how they didn't understand the objective nor that you could run and jump over stuff and that half the time they were hiding behind stuff and were ignoring when they got shot.

the 25 minute hands-on with commentary, that guy had no idea what the game was about. he said he hoped it wasn't like ET:QW...which proves to me he had no idea what kind of game he was playing. he was also the one that said if objective misions were the only mode, he woulnd't play for long, and i say good riddance to people like him.

I've heard a lot of people complain that it's hard to aim in Brink on console because they don't have their precious aim-assist. This is also somewhat ironic, seeing as how I hear a lot of console gamers complain that aim-assist isn't needed. I guess these so-called "Pros" have no idea what they're talking about. It's that Call of Duty mentality.

In any case, I'm so glad I'm part of the glorious PC Gaming Master Race.
