Anyone Else Love the Brush Gun?

Post » Tue Jul 07, 2009 2:50 pm

So I have now played through the lovely world of New Vegas 3 times, and each time I grow more attached to the destructive power of the Brush Gun. Does anyone else have an affinity for this weapon? Just wondering if there are any other lovers of the lever-action .45-70 Gov't cannon.

Yes! Brush Gun FTW! Brush Gun and Cowboy Perk!
Brush Gun can kill a Deathclaw with 2 shots.
Brush Gun is my favorite gun.

My calm answer: Brush Gun. Good gun. Cowboy Perk with this gun is good. Brush Gun..............GOOD GUN!

(I'm putting on my "Oliver Swanick" act. He's in Nipton)
Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! Who won the lottery? I did!

Totally agreed. This gun plus the Cowboy Perk equals a helluva lot of fun.

I bought it once, but since it was the early days it's ammo was quite rare. Never fired it at anything. Besides, i prefer my rifles semi-automatic. That is, the All-American.

I absolutely cannot stand the peep sights in this game. If it had open sights like the varmint/hunting rifle, or if I had a VATS-based character, I'd probably have one in my inventory. A scope mod or a unique scoped variant would be awesome as an alternative to the AMR. A scoped trail carbine is nice, but even with the Cowboy perk and SWC ammo, it basically makes for a less-effective hunting rifle (especially the reload time).

Every time I play NV, I usually do an NCR Ranger playthrough. I use my favorite setup after a while Anti-Material Rifle, Brush Gun, Ranger Sequoia, and Ballistic Fist.

No I did not kill a Ranger for a Ranger Sequoia. I use a small mod that makes it appear at Gun Runners :)

Good looking rifle, definitely my fav of the rifles.

With ammo for it more available it's pretty sweet, does a ridiculous amount of damage though.

Ah I can understand that, why you wouldn't be as much of a fan. I use V.A.T.S. quite often.

Why do people want to make the AMR useless, wanting scopes for an already overpowered gun? and that suggestion for a 45-70 Sharps Express... WE ALREADY HAVE AN AMR, QUIT TRYING TO MAKE IT OBSOLETE!

I love it - it's my very favorite weapon. I just wish the ammo was more plentiful so I could use it more.

Of course, I'm probably influenced by the fact that I have a real life .45-70 lever gun. Taking it out to the range for an afternoon may not be the most fun I can have with my clothes on, but it's darned close.

The brush gun, like all the revolvers and lever rifles, is overpowered and even more so with the Cowboy perk.

I have shot many rounds through my buddy's .45-70...so much fun. And by the way, the Gun Runners usually have plenty of .45-70 ammo, both in regular and hollow point, at least in my experience.

AMR is already obsolete. Even Hunting Rifle does better if you don't mind about noise, or Silenced Sniper Rifle which still better than AMR with nerf hammer hitted like a train.

I just post in the other thread that AMR should have same DPS as Brush Gun.

I still like my AMR for all around destruction of a target from a distance. Nothing like watching your enemies pin wheel across the landscape after a head shot.

However the Brush Gun's increased rate of fire over the AMR has moved it up to the preferred medium range weapon for me. Besides, two shotting a Deathclaw when they are running at you is only possible with this gun. Well, you can get two shots off with other guns, but it probably is not going to stop them.

Eh, I find the Brush Gun to be below expectations. I like using a silenced 10mm pistol and a silenced sniper rifle. My cowboy repeater is my midrange gun.

Brush Gun and Dinner Bell are currently my weapons of choice, along with Maria and Anti-Material Rifle for those special occasions.

I stick unique weapons in my storage crate in the Lucky 38.

Plus, Vault 34 gives me nightmares. :cryvaultboy:

I used the Marksman Carbine exclusively between level 15-25, but found that I needed something more powerful. Thats when I decided to try out the Brush Gun, and didn't use anything else for the rest of the game. :)

My Sniper's final load out is always 12.7mm Pistol(silenced), Dinner Bell, All-American and Sniper Rifle (silenced). Haven't encountered anything i can't handle with them

I can get by with a Varmint Rifle and Sledge hammer, but that isn't the point.

And I give All-American to Cass because she can fire 10k surplus ammo and wouldn't break the gun.
