Anyone else miss the "normal kill" killcam from NV?

Post » Sun Nov 29, 2015 10:35 pm

  • I think the fallout 4 VATS killcam is nice...it would just be nice if we had the option to have it triggered OUTSIDE of VATS (I'm a player that tries to avoid VATS if at all possible. I'd rather not watch the computer kill my enemies for me). The way New vegas did it was very good (especially the times when it'd follow the bullet on its path to the enemy).

Anyone else miss this?

I preferred to keep it turned off. Especially when using companions, as my screen would out of no where teleport to some random guy getting their head blown off by Boone and it would scare the [censored] out of me and throw me off track if I was in combat.

But it was an option you can enable and disable in the options. So long as it would return with that option, I wouldn't care. I'd turn it off again.

No. I hated the killcam in Skyrim and actually use a mod to disable it. I'm glad that it's not there except when you use VATS because I don't use VATS as much as I did in FO3 and FONV. The gunplay in FO4 is good enough that I can actually use aim-down-sight and hit things! That's saying a lot because I use a Xbox360 controller on my PC and it's not as precise as a mouse.

Maybe someone will mod it back in.

I am sure some will but for me the killcams in NV were awfully disruptive, too many times my character tries to get into the Strip or travel through Freeside when Boone or someone else initiates a killcam and my Courier spins around 180, facing the opposite direction from where he was heading.

yeah I think some improvements could be made to make it less jarring. But, I think the option would be nice. Basically just having the fallout 4 VATS kill cam load outside of VATS, and maybe adding some things like the slow motion or following the bullet path to the enemy.

And, again, just having the OPTION would be nice....I'm not for forcing any feature on anyone.

I agree, but that option should be improved and work better than previous versions.

I adore Skyrim killcams but they ARE buggy and messed up, especially when trying to use ranged weapons.

An all too common occurance: Ooooh, sweet! Arrow killcam! And...miss...

It'd get annoying pretty quick. Especially since the kill cams are not freezing time anymore.

Nope......it was obnoxious and annoying. At least New Vegas gaves up the option to turn it off. Skyrim didn't have it and modders had to disable it. It literally makes the game unplayable for me constantly seeing [censored] slow motion kills over and over and over again. I am not 12 years old anymore.

That being said I do wonder why it wasn't included as an option for people that do like it. The backlash from Skyrim about it must have been a lot for them to do a complete 180 on it. Or they just assumed that people that don't use VATS like me in general don't like gimmicks like that.

Yeah, those companion-triggered killcams in FO:NV were annoying as heck. Sneaking carefully through a vault... BAM! Veronica punches a radroach!

Well, in the post you quoted I said that it should be improved (mostly to make it less jarring). Also, I don't believe there were any killcams in NV where a "miss" resulted. I never played skyrim so I can't comment on that.

It'd be neat if they sort of "queued" the killcam when you killed something and a message would pop up saying "press x to view killcam" so even if you had the option enabled, you wouldn't HAVE to view every single klll. That would fix the jarring nature of NV killcams or ones people didn't want to see like "x punches a radroach" as someone else mentioned.

That's most likely it. If you like slow motion gunplay and kills, you've got VATS. If you don't like that, you can not use VATS. It's like a built in option switch. I think the kill cams in VATS are awesome, but I'm expecting them if I use VATS. I wouldn't want to be interrupted while I'm doing precision realtime shooting by a kill cam.
