Anyone else notice the complete lack of personality in NewVe

The comments on that video saddened me, it was like a mini version of these forums.

Did you ever see my one and only Oblivion mod?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JEg1VXzV4Rs
Because it was 2007. It was meant as a parody gag that I thought no one could ever consider seriously doing ~little did I know at the time...

Guess what else... I made another parody gag that thought no one could ever consider seriously doing ~Point Lookout was unannounced at the time.

With both of those clips being spot on, you should make a parody of what Fallout 4 will be like. :P

Silent Bob should direct the Fallout movie... if there ever is one.

EDIT: Or the guy who did Starship Troopers...that had a sense of humor like Fallout.

I must be on drugs, like SERIOUSLY I thought that I was in denial about how good New Vegas is, but some of the people on here jesus christ its like you think they prefer things to be less fun. Some people thought the WASTELAND was dull and like the Mojave? I am the type who cant stand missing a single building...and NV made me not even give a crap about exploring once I realized there was none....at least the fighting was fun in the F3 "dungeons" rather than in NV....go find some crappy shack and fight a group of flies who are nearly unbeatable without at least 20 stins....oh and they will kill your annoying companions within 2-3 hits...oh and theres no way to get your idiot companions away from there unless you...uh...dont use them in the first place.

Gotta love the "realism crowd" out there....because realism should come before having fun in a video game right? Who the f*** prefers walking around and finding NOTHING rather than finding "secret bases" here and there? Well I sure do, because when I play my games, I damn well better have no fun!!! I want it realistic...I wanna pay taxes and make mortage payments...If Fallout was supposed to be realistic...there would be no Fallout!!....The concept of Fallout is unrealistic...which is a great charm Fallout 3 had....FNV was just the same exact stuff, but way less interesting...and weapons that are almost never satisfying.

:wavey:

Seriously... Folks have differing ideas of fun, and even have different kinds of fun for (and from) different games. For example... I like shooters plenty ~but I can't stand that FO3 (and NV) are so much like shooters; (Its just not what this series was supposed to be).

I liked wandering around in FO3, away from towns and NPCs. I enjoyed the view and didn't want to be bothered; but FO3 is nothing like what I would have wanted for the Fallout 3. FO:NV isn't either... but its closer IMO.

That's basically the same as it was in Fallout 3. I don't see how you can like one concept but not the other when they're the same thing basically. And the same also goes for compnaion AI you mentioned.

Who the f*** prefers walking around and finding NOTHING

No-one. That's why there are quests and places to explore. The rewards from exploring feel more rewarding when they not to be taken for granted and drowning the player. And (for me) more so when there is a reason to explore (a quest/mission).

I have to admit it.... When I played FO, I liked that most of the containers were empty unless in someone's house, or very isolated and hard to get to. I did not like finding [in FO3] stocked first aid kits and mini-nuke ammo in abandoned shacks that have been rummaged through for decades /centuries! :shocking:.

Same here.
It felt more consistent and gave a higher sensation of my efforts paying off when I did find something. While in FO3 I felt "what ever" after a while, because I drowned in loot.

I liked FO3s atmosphere better but preferred NVs writing and dialog. I didn't play the originals so I didn't come into the series with any expectations.

Guess what, some people have different opinions and priorities(ayup, those who prefer walking around and finding [censored] nothing). Start dealing with the fact that the whole world does not revolve around ya and your tastes.

I actually find the atmosphere alot better in FNV. Ive just entered freeside, and man. The place isnt big but I love it.
One thing that I actually have found funnier is that in FNV, you are a pretty regular guy. You dont have a father that tries to save the whole land, youre just a guy that have happend to get the wrong mission in the wrong place.
In FO3 you were the center of the world, three dog talked about you whatever you did. I just feel alot moore immersed in vegas then FO3. And in my point of view, atmosphere isnt dungoun crawling and shooting monsters.
But hey, im a swede, my country hasnt been in war for the latest 200 years ;)

Those empty container make me realize I am playing Fallout, not normal stat builder and see what the developer favors (okay, Sawyer kinda hang dry here, but the man correct his mistakes).

If only FO3 have better towns which you can invest and attach to, it would have been more reasonable to have so much buildings fill with Mutties for the Lone Wanderer to slaughter.

I don't even see how personality would relate to a game. Was NV not kind enough? Or should it be more aggressive? Maybe it should have a personality disorder, what about schizophrenia? Please explain.

Or is this one of them 'game lacks [insert random meaningless word here]' threads?

*sees a shell exploding in front of some Hollywood violence addicted FO3 fan*

Thats not what an explosion looks like!!!

No, no, they want a hyper active drug induced violent game that when started, explodes into a firey ball and burns anything around them and burns their hair... and has flaming gerbils that squeak every half second because they are flaming.
