Hey all!
I've been playing Fallout since about Fallout 3 came out, and I've just had to sign up on the forums because I couldn't find any topic about this issue, anywhere. :stare:It's never really bothered me before, but coming back to the game after a few months and using it with the Rift, it's started to bother me more and more:
Everything seems out of proportion in first person view.
You seem generally bigger in first person. Doorways are smaller, mutants are shorter, walls seem 'farther' even when you're up close. The biggest and probably the most disheartening issue is when you fight Centaurs. I have Mart's Monster Mod for Fallout 3, which adds variable sized to creatures of the wastes. In first person, the centaurs seem as tall/big as you are. However, when you go into third person, they're huge. The camera also doesn't seem to jump back much when you go into third person. I know this isn't tied in just for Mart's Mutant Mod, as I noticed the same thing with Radscorpions and other objects in Fallout 3/New Vegas on the Xbox. I've been experimenting with weapon/playermodel fovs, worldview fovs, and tried comparing first person views to tfc views. I've posted the results below, and I've come to the conclusion that it's the camera placement in 1st person compared to your world model. My question is, has anyone else noticed this, and if so is there a command/tweak that changes the 1st person camera placement?
Pics here (The first few are firstperson vs thirdperson, then after that is firstperson vs tfc):

PS. I have the fov at 90 on some and 75 on some, the view model is also changed a bit and does not represent which pics are at 90 or 75. If you want to know specifics on which were at 90/75, let me know.
