anyone else notice this about the release date?

Post » Sat Sep 04, 2010 1:54 pm

like 90% of games are released on Tuesdays, and 11/11/11 is on a Friday, and i've never heard of a game released on a Friday.

I did think of that. Released on a Friday, released on remembrance day, released on the same day as another big game. It's gonna be an epic and innovative game why not an epic and innovative release date? :)

It's because they are doing a simultaneous worldwide launch. Nothing more, nothing less. Confirmed by Pete.

This, It's easier to release something worldwide on a friday, I read something like this a while back, something about shipments being delivered on Tuesdays and sometimes missing their destinations...

So this means, some lucky people will be playing since Tuesday or Wednesday...

It's the only time that all (potentially) six digits of the calendar will be the same for another hundred years.

I'm starting to think that was why they waited so long...

Exactly
;)

If it wasn't on 11.11.11, I'd bet Bethesda would make less money :o

EDIT: The next time will be 11.11.11 (with the last "11" being 2111)

Games are almost always released on a Friday in Europe. It's hardly the world's biggest conspiracy theory!

Exactly why it's releasing on a Friday. To accommodate the simultaneous worldwide launch.

Yeah, no. No one here noticed that before. It's news to all. :)

It is simply, again, that palindromic dates are popular for many things...

I remember someone posting this from an older post about this date but heres your fun little fact of the day.

11/11/11 is St. Martin's day, a holiday usually celebrated in northern Europe. Coincidence with Martin from Oblivion? Probably....

And the conspiracy is reborn

i remember one time my cousin bought gears of war 2, 2 days before release there was a whole pile on the shelf and the top ones had a yellow sticker saying do not put on shelf before xx-xx-xx and he took one of the bottom ones and bought it and played it

I find that funny because I would do the same thing.

Surely that's impossible with a 24 hour time difference ;)

Besides, do we only have the same Friday around the globe these days? that argument can be applied to any day of the week.

I did think it was out of place to be released on a Friday, but it's a good thing.
