Anyone else really missing the New VegasSkyrim kill cams?

Post » Tue Jan 19, 2016 12:44 am

Remember the kill cams that first showed up in New Vegas?

Every time you killed the last enemy in an area it would go into a dramatic kill cam cinematic.

It also happened if you instantly did a one hit kill on someone in a calm pacified area, like this:

These kill cams were later put into Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. I am really gutted they did not make it into Fallout 4.

Though I do remember, Skyrim did not originally have kill cams for magic and bow and arrow weapons. These were put in at a later date through game updates.

I really REALLY hope they are able to put these cinematic's into Fallout 4 over future updates. They were awesome.

There are still cinematic kill-cams when you kill someone in VATS.

Personally, I think that's enough, because they get tedious very quick.

I like bullet flight kill cams the best. You get very few in FO4. They are there, but are extremely rare comparatively. Kill cams in FO4 tend to focus solely on the body 'splosions.

i wish i had on video when i got killed by a ghoul when i very first got the game. The animation took over (like when you melee/bash an enemy) and i had a good bit of life left, the camera zoomed back a little and i got to watch as this ghoul grabbed me and took this huge bite out of my neck and then my body limped over.... :/

No. In fact I hated when it just randomly did that. Especially when I had more than one enemy to worry about. I'm glad it only does it in VATS.

Could've sworn I had some while sneaking and getting a one shot kill. Didn't they tell us to disable them in previous titles to get better game play? Maybe why they're not as frequent now.

Actually, I wish they had implemented a toggle in the settings to turn them completely *off*. It's annoying having to see everything killed in slow-motion bloody detail every time I choose to use VATS.

No. I quickly disabled them in New Vegas and Skyrim, and never looked back. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

But, as already mentioned, it is enough to have them for VATS where it makes more sense. We don't need them anywhere else, otherwise it becomes a nuisance.

Fun at first in Skyrim. Beyond annoying after the nth time seeing it. The kill cams already exist in the form of VATs either way.

I like the kill-cams in F4, although you do need to use VATS to get them. I sledged a Legendary Mirelurk yesterday with a kill-cam. Epic!

Yeah, they seem to be mostly for when you die, not when you kill, lol. Or maybe they're only for melee kills and since I don't do a lot of melee I just don't see them very often.

How can you say that? It's one of the greatest things about the whole game.

Nope, I hate kill cams. I have no interest in seeing glorified death scenes at all, and I also never take perks such as bloody mess. Beyond that, I just want to get the fights over with as efficiently as possible, so making me wait for everything to happen in slow-motion is annoying. On a good note, I'm getting better at *not* using VATS for this reason.

What makes me gaze in absolute awe is being up on the top of one of the Skyscraqers and looking down on the city ruins, or watching vertibirds flying in a procession overhead, or a dragon perched on mountaintop in Skyrim, or even just watching the salmon jumping up the frothy river falls in Skyim. A slow-motion exploding deathclaw just makes me cringe. It's revolting.

Maybe you should consider giving up on mature rated games. It's only going to get more and more graphic as time goes by. Actually, I never even bothered to check if there's a gore toggle setting in the menu. Either way, there are a lot more gory games than the ones Bethesda creates.

Soaking up the scenery. Always fun to do in Bethesda's games. Even Oblivion despite looking more dated. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KsszXSwYDoU

How in the world did you somehow leap to this conclusion? The OP asked a question and I gave him/her an answer and explained why when asked. If things do get more graphic than I can tolerate, then I simply won't buy or play those particular games. (For example, I have no intention at all of buying the new Doom.I certainly wouldn't stay on a forum for 7 years constantly ranting about it rather than playing something else I do enjoy.

Oh gosh, just listening to that Oblivion music with the birds chirping in the background nearly brings tears to my eyes. :)

I have a vanilla, no-fast-travel Oblivion game on the 360 that I play every so often and I just love walking around Cyrodil. Skyrim is beautiful, but can be very bleak by comparison, so when I'm in the mood for more lushness, it's really hard to beat Oblivion. Dated graphics only make it more...well more *itself*!

I don't. In Skyrim, at higher difficulties, the kill cam would trigger while the enemy was still alive and remained alive.

Actually, NO. They were/are sooooooo annoying, I am very happy they did not make a return in FO4.

Sheesh party poopers everywhere. I myself appreciate a good kill cam and am happy they're still there for melee both in and out of vats, stealth kill cams for melee and in vats for guns. People seem to call it "broken" because they dont like it. That power attack button is fun. Im only dissatisfied that there aren't melee kill cams for Super Mutants/Mirelurks/Dogs/Deathclaw/Ghouls

I had to point out to my friend you can disable gore using the ini settings for those that find it revolting or other stuff you'll find in a mature game you can in fact disable that stuff.

I dont take that exploding body perk since shooting someone in the arm shouldnt cause them to explode but I enjoy that occasional gore.

Don't like it disable it since it IS an option if you dig around in the ini files a bit.

Disabling only works if you're playing on PC. That's why a settings toggle is needed. It's not just the gore though. It's the whole slow-motion thing when you just want to get on with the fight.
