Anyone else saving up for new PCs/PC parts?

An SSD would really go nicely with the release Skyrim.

I will upgrade my CPU to an AMD quad-core processor. I have a Core 2 Duo atm.

I hope my graphics card (HD5770) will be enough for TES5.

I do want a new computer, but I dont think one will be necessary to play TESV, as its being made for the Xbox 360 which my computer beats the crap out of.

When I do a new build for my OH it will probably have a SSD as system drive, but that's because he uses a lot of different programs and it's an always-on machine, so for him it makes sense - less so for my gaming PC though. I haven't quite been able to justify the cost - I have several terabytes of data on mechanical drives and I can't see that changing until the prices of SSDs come down a lot!

Just got a new PC a few months ago, so when TESV gets out, I'll just get a new graphics card (and a new LED screen by then, hopefully).

From what I hear, an ssd boosts performance for games and by next year they should be lower in price. Still not sure if I'll get one or not.

I've been planning my build before this announcement, and I'm only waiting for the 8 core processors to be released at or around May or so. Then my triple GPU and 3 3D monitor set up will be ready to travel with my back to school after next summer. And during that time I will preorder the Elder Scrolls. So yeah. 2011 is yet another great year of video gaming, just as 2010 was. It just keeps getting better and better. :)

Well, I am thankful that the game isn't supposed to come out until 11.11.11 at the soonest; it'll will give me time to save some money. For years I've been contemplating going with a 3 screen surround setup, this may just push me to do it finally. :D

I currently have an Intel X25-M 80GB and love it!

I may just get a second Intel X25-M 80GB now that they are a lot cheaper than what I originally payed and RAID 0 them. (500+MB/S  )

I will buy a new graphic card next year some time. I think the rest of my computer have some more years of life in it :P

Although if it turns out that the game isn't a DX9 game, I guess I will have to abandon Windows XP and buy a Windows 7 too.

So, is anyone else going to save up for a new PC, or new parts just to play Skyrim on the highest graphics settings?
I'm gonna quit procrastinating about finding a new job, and get one just so I can play this on PC, hopefully, on the highest graphics setting. :celebration:

Consoles are fine, too...

Will begin saving after my daughters birthday! My 360 will hv to suffice in the interim!

I'm gonna pair my ASUS 6870 with its twin.

Will buy a 22" 1080p LED Screen with DVI port.

And finally team my Creative Titenium Fatal1ty Champion with Creative Fatal1ty headset.

The rest of the rig as follows:

-i7 950 @ 4.0
-gigabyte x58a-ud3r
-ocz gold 3x2gb 1600mhz cl8 ddr3
-asus 6870
-ocz agility2 60gb + maxtor 500gb
-lg 20" 1680x1050 vga svcker
bla bla bla..

I probably won't have any problems in tes 5 with my current system but i wanna be make sure i can run it maxed out flawlessly.

Yeah, pretty much this. If anything else, maybe some memory. I have a Core2 Duo E8400 so hopefully that will tie me over to TES:VI! :)

Yup, this is my plan too. Including the not procrastinating. Skyrim-specific builds aren't something we can really plan yet, though, due to the rate at which hardware develops.

Geforece GTS450 1GB RAM

Well I got my hexa and it seems like a stretch to get a game to use 6 cores so I hope i'll just need a new GPU, if the game is actual good enough for me to buy (i'm looking at you oblivion who I only bought for the 6.50 or so with all DLCs and SI on steam years after it came out.)
