Anyone else think the Scarab svcks???

Post » Tue Mar 29, 2011 3:54 pm

Just unlocked the Scarab and was excited to try it out since it's one of the favorites. I was then disappointed when it took me most of a magazine to either hit someone or kill them. I thought it was lag, but I switched back to the Scar and it did better. Anyone else experiencing this? Pretty frustrating! Looks like the Scar is still my weapon of choice.

I think all the guns in this game svck. At least in single player. When i shoot more than three rounds into a soldier they shouldn't be getting back up , Especially when i hit them in the neck.

Aim a little higher and hit their head then, problem solved.

Plus SCARAB is good because its a SCAR with a higher rate of fire but it can also attach a silencer, it does have slightly more recoil though but thats not hard to control.

No,no, he's right the scar-ab svcks, but its actually a close range weapon, then its a beast, don't try and cross map it or you'll be let down, remember its barrel is short, means bullets don't travel so far with full force.

i seriously hate how u keep calling it the SCAR-AB.
yes we get it, but do u not get that its that way so its the Scarab? Please dont tell me u say it out loud as "SCAR-A-B"

Theres a good chance that when whatever company or military out there that came up with the "Superior combat assult rifle" thought of the name "SCAR" first then decided to come up with the words for it.

Special Operations Forces Combat Assault Rifle actually, designed for US SOCOM

so yeah i originally also thought that the scarab would be intermediate range weapon but apparently it gets outclassed by the scar at medium range. so it looks like it's a question of preference: which do you like better? scarab or feline? or is there a significant difference between those two?

also, let's not be anol about this one: they obviously named it scarab for no other apparent reason than that it's a variant of the scar, and also an insect which the egyptians worshipped and the northwesteners like to call a dung beetle. if crytek wanted us to stay technical they should have named it SCAR-Ls, because that's what it actually is

"The SCAR is part of the Superior Combat Assault Rifle weapon family comprising the SCAR assault rifle, the shorter SCARAB carbine, and the SCARE sniper variant. The SCAR family of weapons was first unveiled in 2018, shortly before the Lingshan Incident. Following a successful trial period, it rapidly became the assault rifle of choice for all US military branches andvarious security forces and military contractors worldwide. "

In this universe its superior combat assault rifle. based off the xm8 when it was in development for being the SCAR, they thought it was going to win.

I call it a Scar-Ab because thats the name it goes by,......... in modern warfare, no one says Scarh, its classified Scar-h, this is supposedly a scar variant, the AB model, and they claim to have a sniper variant, the Scar-E, which spells out Scare, yes its a conviniant joke they put out there

The SCAR in Crysis has 0% to do with the real-life Scar-H. It's not "Special operations force Compat Assault Rifle". It's Mk.20 Superior Combat Assault Rifle. And the SCARAB is the Mk.21 Superior Combat Assault Carbine. They are both fictional weapons in a fictional universe playing in the future. I took the names from the Xbox Pre-Alpha version (means it's official). I still can't get why people think it really has to be a real weapon. It surely has some sort of design, looking like the XM8, but it's not one. Deal with it! :)

So now BTT: The SCARAB is a good Mid-Ranged weapon, when you know how to controll a gun. I once used it, bursting away an enemy on the other side of the map. Still, combined with a (working) Laser Sight + Silencer, and you are the deadliest stealth-killer around. Unfortunately, the Laser Sight is currently buggy and useless, so it should be combined with Reflex Sight. It IS a good weapon. You just need to have good aiming.

We understand its fake, and your thinking its similar to the Xm8 becuase of the support beam that runs through the top......well its not, it matters nothing about the cosmetic look, you have to stare at barrel girth and handles to understand what the gun is packing, anything at that point can be modifies, take the Scar and the Scar-ab, barrel is swapped, support rtemoved, stock was changed, and whats left? Still a Scar, bring both images of the weapon there identical.

Scarab is my weapon of choice. Toss on rapid fire and you have a beastly short and mid range weapon.

I tried that and i was massively disappointed and then brought into failure. I think it fits into the same class as a feline, and even with a feline i get more kills.

Because they both use the same ammo you can combo them with loadout pro to get a ton of ammo and two VERY guns that pretty much are around balanced rifles. Maybe over kill but you can add a ton of attachments to both of them with no movement loss(lvl 2 upgrade). I call this class SCARS and it is very fun.

Well... it has a faster firerate, but deals less damage per shot. Looks like it was done that way for balancing purposes. Sould be more equal due to the similar barrel length and same ammo.

SCAR:
Fire rate: 700
damage (SP): 90
damage (MP): 30
DPS*: 1050/second (350/s in multiplayer)
Total damage per magazine: 3600 (multiplayer: 1200)

SCARAB:
Fire rate: 900
damage (SP): 75
damage (MP): 24
DPS*: 1125/second, 7.14% more damage per second (360/s in multiplayer, 2.8% more damage per second)
Total damage per magazine: 3000 (MP: 960) Extended magazine (50): 3750 (MP: 1200)

My choice would be the SCAR. The SCARAB wastes more ammo to deal a bit more damage in the same period of time. (it's also very ugly without iron sights, and with that small retractable stock xD).

* DPS = Damage per second

This is the Feline (if you are curious)

Fire rate: 1200
damage (SP): 65 Clip size: 60
damage (MP): 20 Clip size: 45
DPS: 1300/second (400/s in multiplayer)
Total damage per magazine: 3600 (900 in multiplayer)

NOTE: Damage drop per meter is not shown.
I'm not sure if these values have been changed in any patch. Check the changelog of the updates.

wow, i see no one else opposed my opinion once i posted the images of the 2 guns, so yes, i was right, it is a Scar-ab, seeing how its still the same exact gun, with a few mods that actually make it worse. You should actually been given the scar-ab first, and had to work your way up to the scar, that way everyone would have agreed the original scar is best.

i preferred the scarab in single player which is weird how i hate it on MP, mind you i dont like the scar that much either, but i understand why its the most used gun.

Its not that its OP, its that its a good all rounders, most all rounders are average(Scarab), scar does its job brilliantly.
