I'm sure like with all TES games if you get enough goodies, level high enough and focus your skills you'll become a Demi-God aka Sauron.

Is anyone else worried that you wont be able to have godlike abilitys?

i mean where you have stuff like speed, acrobatics, atletics and movement associated skills above 100 and only be able to jump, like 3 feet whereas in oblivion when you could be buffed out,you could jump like 20 feet as if you were godlike, most people who have had a level 40+ character probly know what i mean. but basically, you'll only be able to jump or run normally even if you have that skill maxed, in an attempt to "make it more realistic".

Where is this information coming from?

You do know you will be able to slow down time, right?

Also - Do we need another thread like this?

Having some 'juice' makes games such as TES more plausible, it wouldn't be right having Joe Punch-clock off saving the world from hordes of Dragons.

Besides, the obvious answer to the OP (for PC users) starts with M, and rhymes with gods.

Translation: "Is anyone worried this game will be challenging and won't have exploits?"

Given in every TES game, you are some sort of chosen hero, it kinda goes along with the territory to have the OPTION of being godlike.

Lets not forget that the higher tier abilities are not being forced down your throat

Wait, my bad, people seem to ignore that bit...

The god like abilities are left in the cheat codes and mods for me. I think Beth is doing a good job trying to weed out the ways for players to cheat and exploit the game.

I would like to be powerful, but not Pelinal in his fits of madness powerful (he was able to wipe places from existence during that time!)

I like rising above my limitations, not lowering the limitations below my abilities. Does that make sense?

In other words, no god-like powers for me good sir!

Technically there'll probably be no way to stop you if you really want to be very powerful or perfect.

I mean even in New Vegas you can honestly make a perfect character fairly easily and quickly if you want to.

Open world RPGs should always allow freedom even if against others wants.

Of coarse in the same vein there has to be a way to make things matter for those who want a unique experience without feeling overpowerful or having individual skills not matter much.

The best platform to buy a game to tailor to yourself is on the PC.

Now as to why they changed that. It's because it was fairly silly, fantasy or no fantasy. Again if you really want stuff like that it's easily found in what I presume will be a thriving Mod community on the PC version of Skyrim.

As for consoles, you'll have to hope for an epic glitch that gives you such an epic jump Kangaroo Jack will cry his heart out in shame.

Further thinking and just to be fair to console players.

Maybe good old cheat codes available in the menu? I always miss the lack of them nowadays. I also liked how RDR had some of the codes to enter actually written in some obviously failed settlements or "ruins."

Of coarse even just a selection of cheats in the start menu even would probably satisfy the people who want to do that kind of silly stuff.

I'm worried about getting god-like powers, I lost interest in the last RPG I played, simply because I'm just too hax even without powerleveling.

Personally yes, I am worried about that a bit.

I want my character to be able to attain great speed and jumping heights, it appealed to me alot in Oblivion. Especially when I played a Vampire.

But I dont care how its implmeneted. If they axed Acrobatics and Speed and Athletics, maybe they can have Perks that give this result?

At the very least, I assume this can still be modded, as well...

I keep seeing people posting that Acrobatics & Athletics tend to make you god-like & while I don't fully disagree, I think a few things should be taken into account.

Acrobatics: You ever watch basketball? Normally if a player isn't tall enough to just do a little hop to dunk the ball, they have to (& they do) jump pretty high to dunk the ball, I watched a show where a Pro B-ball player jumped a Pontiac Solstice & dunked the ball in the basket. So if you have 100 acrobatics shouldn't you be able to atleast jump as high as they do? Also being able to jump high is very useful in getting to hard to otherwise reach, without levitation (that said there is no evidence to suggest it won't make a comeback).

Athletics: Olympic Runners. You can probably guess what my point is here, though I would never expect to go as fast as them even with 100 athletics.

Momentum: Faster you're running before you jump the farther you should go.

I do agree however that being able to near instantly be able to switch movement direction is unrealistic, but I wouldn't call it 'god-like'.

Yeah, it seems that way. Oh well, I'll miss the days when a single spell could wipe out a city, or being able to box the Tribunal, but times are ch-ch-ch-changing.

I think they should keep the fun god-like part like the spell "Jump" and large devastating area effect spells, but get rid of the aspects that make the game boring like chameleon and absorb health weapons.

Some decent points here but doing a dunk isn't godlike. But jumping from the ground to a roof is. I think Athletics should influence sprint speed and length, and let Speed handle running speed lol

Yum, nothing more fun modding up your acrobatics and jumping straith up when standing in the middle of the empire. The view is just so beautiful :user: .

Even if you can't do it naturally, i'm sure you'll be able to use mods that gives you the abilities you want.

Yes Jumping from the ground to a roof can be but 1. I didn't say you should be able to. 2. That is completely dependent on the the height of the roof. Ex. a shack?. That is a good point, I didn't even remember there is going to be sprint. Though if the rumors about attributes not being implemented turns out true, what would then govern your speed? (Though it is just rumor or hear-say at this-point-in-time). I myself don't really care either way. Would you oblige that if it is, that athletics would probably govern your speed?

What? Jump height is now static? I hope not.

I like that I gained the ability to jump tremendous heights. I've always played Acrobatic characters (Since my Khajiit Acrobat in ARENA), and the ability to jump that much higher and get to the places those that ignore Acrobatics can't is always rewarding. Unfortunately, the animation and game constraints don't seem to make grabbing onto ledges, climbing, or vaulting over a foe like the Prince of Persia possible, so jump height has to be increased to emulate those effects.

Leaping to high places is fun. I hope they don't take that away.

There will always be ways to have god like powers. Fantasy games always have this funny way of working in some form of realism as a penalty while you're doing something unrealistic and god like.
Personally I wouldn't like it if movement was lamed down to being only human because a persons coordination is much better in real life and having sloppy movement penalties makes the controls feel bad. A lot of games get the model scale size of buildings very badly and you can spend like 3 minutes trying to get into a doorway because of a small step that makes you bump into an overly small doorway then you got a movement penalty trying to side step or go backwards to line up with the steps because your so feeble or whatever to jump up a small pair of steps to get to the doorway.
That and all the time that gets spent making a game map (I know it's difficult and time consuming) but no one every really makes a video game map and plays it and notices how often a character on average is getting stuck constantly on a rock or something resetting their running speed to zero having to build back up to full sprint speed and further made annoying by a movement penalty if they were stuck on the object and can't jump over it and have to slowly side step or move backwards from it.
I've been playing video games for too many years I can complain about anything, back to the short answer, no I am not worried cause I'm pretty confident that in any video game I'd learn how to have god like powers or some over powered set up if I wanted to use it. I just get easily peeved when controls and movement are not fluid/dynamic.
