Is anyone else worried that you wont be able to have godlike

I'm more worried that we WILL have god-like powers. I don't want to play a god-like character at all.

Same here. It's one thing to be very powerful, it's another to be Pelinal powerful. The former still allows for challenges, the latter is just running around killing everything in a hit or two while being practically invulnerable.

Worried because the game might not become too easy too fast? You're kidding. You are, right?

Yes Jumping from the ground to a roof can be but 1. I didn't say you should be able to. 2. That is completely dependent on the the height of the roof. Ex. a shack?. That is a good point, I didn't even remember there is going to be sprint. Though if the rumors about attributes not being implemented turns out true, what would then govern your speed? (Though it is just rumor or hear-say at this-point-in-time). I myself don't really care either way. Would you oblige that if it is, that athletics would probably govern your speed?

True, if Attributes are out (I hope not), then Athletics could somehow govern run speed. Maybe just make sprint speed directly dependent on movement speed and make so movement speed and sprint duration are governed by Athletics. And although jumping onto a building would be determined by roof height if you can enter it without ducking you probably wouldn't be able to jump on it lol. I'm no professional athlete but on doing a regular jump (not any of the Olympic high jump nonsense where it is ok to land on your spine because there is a big fluffy pad) I can get anywhere from 3 feet to just under 4 feet if I get lucky.

Fun fact, the record for the highest jump kick is 9 ft, 3 inches according to my research (comprised of a quick google search lol). But that jump involved running, a back hand spring and was actually a backflip kick. This means that his head still only got about 4 feet off the ground.

In my opinion, there should be a realistic cap on jump height up through level 100, maybe something like 5-6 feet. After that (when you need to use potions and spells to surpass human limits) it can go crazy high.

this is probably the thing that scares me most. i loved bieng the most powerful entity in the universe with the ability to kill any1 who i didnt want with a mere whim. "maybe i'll paralyze him, or set him on fire, or get my storm atronach to crush him, or bend him to my will, or absorb his soul, drain his stamina, or blow him up, or all of the above"

Is anyone else worried that you wont be able to have godlike abilitys?

i mean where you have stuff like speed, acrobatics, atletics and movement associated skills above 100 and only be able to jump, like 3 feet whereas in oblivion when you could be buffed out,you could jump like 20 feet as if you were godlike, most people who have had a level 40+ character probly know what i mean. but basically, you'll only be able to jump or run normally even if you have that skill maxed, in an attempt to "make it more realistic".

I'd be actually worried if we had them.

I would rather not be super god like. Honestly, I want a challenge. I want to come out of a dungeon with barely any health, a broken weapon, broken armor, and depleted of health potions. But god dangit, I have recovered the !!!!!

I don't want god-like abilities.

This. OB wasn't very challenging at higher lvls, and in MW you were Chuck Norris by the time you maxed out your character. More balance, with the possibility of becoming powerful IF you REALLY work for it(collect the "best" artifacts, spells etcetera).

I don't want to be godlike when I'm low level, but when I'm, say > 40 lvl, I don't want to fear for my life every time I go explore a dungeon. If someone loves to always play weak characters, well, then I think you should start a new one when you get to the high levels.

I like to be able to experience the whole spectrum of my characters life. Isn't it only logical that when I'm old and epic wizard I have so immense powers that I have to find some other thrills for my life than beating rats and goblins? That I'm actually so powerful, that I actually have hard time finding worthy opponent?

So I think that if I go through the trouble of training my character to very high levels I get to be godlike. If I get bored, I can always start over and fear rats and mudcrabs again.

In Morrowind there really wasn't much to do when you got to high levels. You could kill anyone you wanted and go anywhere, but that was about it and it got boring pretty fast. But wasn't Divayth Fyr also bored because of the same thing so it's natural development if you live old enough and train your skills. Being godlike could also be more fun in Skyrim if there is more advanced AI, because there could be lots of new ways to influence the world.

Yes.
VERY worried.

^^ This.

Game-breaking abilities are what make the Elder Scrolls games fun. Bethesda should not and must not remove them!

I'd prefer if, regardless of your level, you were at risk fighting any enemy depending on numbers.

I don't care if I'm level 50, a dozen level 5 Goblins should kill me if I'm not careful.

No godlike abilities, minor HP increases as you level, better scaling of damage. Even an unskilled combatant who hits me in the head with a warhammer should do considerable damage.

I'm not worried at all. there will be shouts after all. and enchanting. Worst come to it, Mods. I hope there are lots of epic minibosses and such to keep us on our toes, and common folk be as challenging at cutting wheat with a scythe. at low lvls, the common bandit should make you wish you had backup.

To be honest with pretty much any open world rpg like this, there will be things you can exploit to make yourself more powerful. Combine this with having a high level character with the best armor/spells/weapons etc and i'm sure you will be able to have a character with godlike abilities.

i certainly hope you dont end up with godlike ablities. the closest they came was with shivering isles and even them most of the powers only worked in shivering isles which made sense. morrowind gave you immortality and immunity to disease and poison but it didnt really effect your gameplay that much. i hope they do something similiar in skyrim wherein you get some cool bonus but its not something that allows you to pwn everything you come across.

if i want to play a godlike character ill go play assassins creed where i can obliterate armies of guards with finishing moves. keep that [censored] out of skyrim. i want my game very hard and extremely challenging at all levels. obviously at high levels your better than most things but i hope they have some things in there that are unkillable like a giant sea serpent or a humungous spider that you can only run from. kinda like the big worm in penumbra or those creepy floating dudes from silent hill. STALKER was good in that even with high level armor and weapons many of the monsters still posed a threat if you played stupidly.

You shoot fire from your hand. You slay dragons. You save the world from being EATEN! Sounds godlike to me.

Not worried at all. At least not about that.

I'm more worried that we WILL have god-like powers. ...

Darn, I was going to say something like that but Phoss beat me to it.

If the game allowed super powers it may end up being too easy and unchallenged.

That's like daily 9-5 business as usual for me and I'm not godlike.. :nope: I bet godlike doesn't mean stepping in puddles of muddy substance.

That whole slow time thing through a dragon shout does sound pretty divine though.

Acrobatics are removed so yeah, no more frog leaping everywhere (Which was a horrible gameplay element/stat to begin with. Wanted it removed since Morrowind)

...Because you didn't like it, you choose to evolve your Acrobatics all the way? Riiiiight.

Anyways, no, I don't think we need to be god-like, but I am concerned we wont ever be able to fully max out a character (One perk per level, at a supposed 150 perks means you ain't mastering everything) which I'm not a huge fan of.

Not worred at all. This game will include "god-like" (I hope not too much) abilities in a logical way: Dragon Shouts.

I didn't like to become a god just for jumping and running...

games that let you master everything svck ALL and i mean all of them suffer from massive imbalance midgame or endgame. it is the worst game play mechanic ever. i dont mind if they allow you to do it but it should be super ridiculously difficult and take a ton of time to do in a normal game. i had morrowind and oblivion modded so that it would take an impossible number of hours to level everything up to max.

You did play Morrowind, right? And Oblivion? It wasn't an accidental thing, maxxing out your character. It took a serious and deliberate time investment to even attempt it. And I don't consider giving the player the option to evolve everything a bad game mechanic. I consider locking them out of options a bad game mechanic.
