Anyone ever looked into why Markarth runs so poorly?

Post » Tue Feb 16, 2016 1:24 pm

I'm sure I'm not the only person to wonder why Markarth lags, I've upgraded three times since 2011 and that city still chugs. Anyone ever looked into what's svcking up the resources in that location and whether it's fixable?

I haven't noticed any lag when I go into Markarth.

It's the accumulation of waterfalls and water running everywhere. Same lag appears along the White River between the bridge and nearly the Waltheim Towers.

I haven't taken a look but there might be an optimisation problem too.

What kind of computer are you using?

You're likely not hyper sensitive to framerates, be glad :goodjob:

You're probably on the right track but I've never had any noticeable slowdown in other locations with heavy water and alpha usage. I did notice that even though I'm dropping frames my CPU and GPU are not being maxed out, seems a similar situation to Fallout 4 where the engine can't cope with the number of draw calls.

With me Windhelm is the problem. On two separate PCs I've had enormous problems with any mod that modifies the exteriors from multiple mod authors. My PC is a beast and I've noticed any issues with Markarth.

Mods that modify other mods? Not surprising at all that they create problems.

Markath also is one of the more overly populated cities. Oh the joy of entering that place everytime on my machine. >_>

Yeah Windhelm (vanilla) ran poorly for me too, seems ok since Bethesda patched in the optimisations though. Solitude was pretty bad as well but brute PC force seems to have solved that one, Markarth is pretty much the only location left that struggles now.

That's not what I meant ANY mod that alters Windhelm exterior even if the only one eventually has issues for me.

Me neither and some of the PC's I've had access too were ancient.
