Just having turned 30, I do notice a lot of people that were around when I first came on here are no longer here and the age group continues to stay mostly younger than me, but I still certainly notice a lot of new intellectual people that come to the forums. I still treat this site as one of the more mature places to be and the moderators do their job well here.

IT was banned due to the non existent epileptics that don't know how to disable animated gifs that browse these forums..

Just like my Toro avatar.. Except they didn't know what to classify the demon as..

Really? I always thought you were older.

Yeah I turn 20 in March next year :)

I can't imagine why you'd think I were older, not after the last 5+ years of flaming, random weirdness and general grumpiness :P

I'm in my late 30s and definitely notice the age gap fairly often. I used to think I knew it all when I was a teenager and I see that same mindset in many other people of the same age on forums.

But it also depends on the forum. Some special interest forums I visit have quite a mature membership despite having a wide age range.

The internet's always been filled with immature losers though...

Nothing's changed here, it's just that you're getting jaded or growing up and are noticing it more often than you used to...

That's probably it. I think I'm growing tired of it, and that makes me feel old, being tired of the usual internet stupidity.

I thought discussions never went anywhere because it was against the rules to disagree?

I get older they stay the same age. God this forum is [censored] old, young, and the same age all at once. Jeez. Its crazy almost like a thing of perspective rather than one way or the other being right! I feel crazy no one notices this. Everyone you knew then is still going to be older and younger than you. It just depends what you prefer. To look down or up. Or you could be crazy like me and be a reasonable fellow, but that hasn't ever been fashionable.

Edit
Is it really maturity if it is enforced maturity? It's a dubious claim, but never the less at least this place is kept running tight.

Not really... but then again I am only 19 and I rarely venture out of the community discussion :P
Wow, I thought you were like, 30.

There've been people complaining that this forum has been "going downhill" for years and years now. Nothing's changed here, it's just that you're getting jaded or growing up and are noticing it more often than you used to...

Especially when the ones complaining that its been going downhill for years joined in 2009.

Speaking of which, aren't we due for another mass influx/exodus? New Vegas has been out a whole 2 days....

I thought discussions never went anywhere because it was against the rules to disagree?
That too.

I personally don't feel too old, because Im not really that old. :P (17 in real life, and almost 1 year on this forum) but I actually enjoy this forum more than any, simply because of the mature population on here.

This was the first forum I ever joined, and I thought all forums were like this; big mistake. Most others svck. This one is a real diamond, and I am so lucky to have found it (and not get banned yet :P)

Anyway, mature folk, I love you. Don't go, ever. <3.

I'm 19, so no, I don't feel old, for community discussion at least. This community has plenty of younger kids, but the majority of people who come to community discussion, no matter their age, seem to try and act at least slightly mature, which is more than I can say for more forums out there. Hell, I've seen first hand a few members go from acting like little kids to acting like advlts in just a few months of posting in community discussion. The strict rules and slightly more mature community here see to that. As has been said though, even some older members can be incredibly immature at times, and one only has to look at a thread involving something the majority here don't believe in (such as the paranormal) to see what some members of this forum can truly act like given the right circumstances. But for the most part, this is a more mature community than most out there.

The New Vegas forum does sort of make me feel old, though. There appears to be a hell of a lot of young kids there, who make no attempt to hide that fact, and often it feels as if I'm on a completely different forum. Whenever I post or make a topic I always worry about making it too long and having the younger kids think "too long, didn't read" and skip it.

I don't think I'll truly feel old on any forum until I'm into my 30's. I grew up at just the right time to see the internet evolve from what it used to be in the 90's to what it is now, and as long as the internet continues to stay a part of my life I don't think it will ever feel alien to me.

All that said, the xXXx's in my name are a cruel and constant reminder of how much more mature I've gotten in comparison to the apparently stupid kid who thought it was wise to put those in his username. :brokencomputer:

I'm twenty, and I don't really get that from this forum. Certainly, we do get the occasional group of immature people, but they tend to leave or become more mature in almost no time at all. I don't go on any other forums, so I wouldn't really know. However, I have been lurking a wedding forum, and most of the women there are older than I am, and their stupid posts and atrocious grammar make me feel old.

I guess it's time for that long ride off into the sunset.

I don't go to any other forums, so I don't really get that feeling as far as forums go, although I do know what you mean. One only has to take a look at Youtube and watch the flame wars, after all.

When I was 13 years old, 30 seemed old, so by my own standards I should be pushing up daisies by now. HOWever, though my body and the fact that I have 4 grandkids makes me feel old, I am still young minded. Having said all that, forums are for discussing issues and having conversations. Since when is there an age limit to that? Because if there has been one established, I shake my fist at it. :swear: And give it an over-the-head wedgie...

I'm 19, so I don't feel too old. To be honest I don't think you can be too old to be on forums like these, or to play videogames. Post/Game on! :)

This forum is certainly not that bad. There is some immaturity, but definitely not enough to completely besmirch the forum. And most of the immaturity I have noticed, is from new members who usually 1) get with the program or 2) leave.

And I don't think immaturity is directly related to age. There are some people who are 12-14 who are really cool and not immature (don't want to mention any names).

I feel all edgy and irreverant being with all these 20 somethings. :P

At times it feels like I'm being admonished by the older forum members for not being born earlier, and to be honest, I can get that [censored] from my parents.

Lots of you oldies are cool though. :hugs:

As for anyone under 16, you lot can FOAD. Its like being in preschool. :P

Well excuse me for joining the same forum as you! :stare:

I kid I kid.

I'm 15 and I don't feel too old for the forums and I know this is made for older members but I don't think I'll ever get tired of this forum. Its probably the best one I've ever joined.

Well of course you're too old! This Inter Net (or was it inter Web?) thingy is just a gimmick that some dumb impolite kids of today like (seriously, this is the worst generation ever, increadibly inferior in every imaginable way to their predecessors) and it'll be all gone in a couple of years. Just like parachute pants, or environmentalism.

:brokencomputer:

(PS: This was sarcasm, what I mean is that the people who started using forums at a young are now getting older, and has time goes by the median age of forum users will get higher and higher)

First of all, it's your choice what forums, what threads and what posts you read. I generally do not bother reading relationship threads and when i do it's only to have a laugh. I never dumb down my posts and I prefer it when others do not. Generally no one uses vocabulary that I don't know the meaning of but it is often that they mention a technical term that I thouroughly enjoy scowering the corresponding wikipedia page untill I know the subject sufficiently.

When I find out someone in real life visits one of the more odious corners of the internet it's an unavoidable and unconscious change in my view of them.

I am a month off 17 so am still one of the younger forum members, I certainly don't consider myself immature but that is probably a fairly typical standpoint when your the subject concerned. Everyone is immature occasionally,
