Anyone getting Brink for PC?

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 3:48 am

Been looking forward to it for PC but a lot of the videos they put out seem to be focusing on xbox along with a lot of the people in this forum it seems. Based on games in the past if it's really being focused on xbox it probably won't have very good controls for PC... like the press up to select an objective, I'm assuming for PC that would be the up arrow key which is incredibly impractical because it would be on the complete other side of the keyboard from where the other controls are.

I hope it's not the case but it's starting to seem like it is.

I believe i saw in an interview awhile back, that they will let you customize your controls on all systems (PC, 360, PS3) to your liking.

hope this helped.

It isn't focused on xbox. brink is developed on all platforms at same time. and D-Pad up != Arrow up. It will be rather O or T or something

I *REALLY* hope things such as multiple mouse buttons will be able to help with those other functions. BRINK may require a bit of config tweaking to get the classes comfortable and fast. Some of the most complex configs I've seen/used/attempted to use for a game have been in Natural Selection. The 5 alien species have 4 attacks, some of which should be used in combination. So, multiple classes with multiple abilities can turn into a lot of "busy work" in menus or a lot of scripting and memorization of controls. I do NOT like to go through menus and always prefer to have aliases and binds.

Does anyone know what control scripting would look like in BRINK?

Hey 4est, if this helps at all, I was pleasantly surprised with Splash Damage's control options in Quake Wars, where from beta onward I was able to configure my mousebutton 4 (thumb button) without the use of my logitech software.

I'm partial to left and right scroll getting mapped to numpad keys for extra mouse funtionality, which I believe I had to configure through Setpoint (logitech's mouse config software).

I usually use my thumb button as push to talk now though, be it ingame voice or ventrilo.

BRINK for PC is steamworks integrated, so I'm fairly certain you have to be a steam user.

When you can customise the controls anyway, I'm not sure you'll need them.

i probably wont need them. i have yet to play a game where i've used my macro keys. i attempted to use it in one game and forgot which macro button did what so i just reverted it back to the regular key bindings lol.
this game may need these extra keys though :S idk yet!

I dont know about you guys, But I have a 17-button mouse. So....... Im set on controls as long as you can re map them (and pretty much any PC game, ever, you can do that). Ill be very shocked if you cant remap the keys, and im thinkin ill probably have my objective button on my thumb pad. (Razor Naga is my mouse if you are interested)
