Anyone going to miss the "feel" of Oblivion?

Post » Wed Aug 18, 2010 2:02 pm

Nope

1) I never play magic based characters

2) The setting really didn't do it for me, nor did the setting seem magical

Stealthy sneaky little bastard, that's me ;)

edit, wow, no autocensor on that?

Completely agree with you OP, I fear I may become like the passionate Morrowinders who nit pick every little thing wrong with Oblivion and say that it ruined The Elder Scrolls. Hopefully Skyrim will prove me wrong though.

I knew it! The reoccurring prophecy is already being fulfilled. You are the first Oblivionite to walk the path of "*sigh.* I miss Oblivion* soon you and your ilk will usurp the Morrowinders as they did the DAGGERFALLians before them.

And so just like in Tamriel itself, the cycle begins again.

I wont miss OB. I mean, I have no plans to uninstall it after Skyrim comes out, so..

Besides, after the honey moon stage (enjoyment of playing a new TES game) of OB wore off for me, the magic of it evaperated. Of course, over the years i've modded the hell out of it now, so some of that initial magic returned.

Morrowind was far more magical to me, and had a more lasting effect.

But personally, i'm ready to move on to Skyrim.

Oblivion was the first Elder Scrolls game I ever played. It was such an amazing experience, doing everything for the first time. I hope I have a similar experience with Skyrim.

Yes, I will miss it. I love the atmosphere in Oblivion. To me, it's not bland and boring at all. But I wouldn't want the Oblivion atmosphere in Skyrim. Daggerfall, Mororowind and Oblivion all had a very different feel and atmophere to them, I hope that Skyrim will have it's own unique feel to it as well.

The prophecy are always fulfilled! Sad, but true...
And as soon as TES VI comes out, the Skyrimers will usurp the Oblivionites.

I really enjoyed seeing the random huge summons, random damaging spells, and of course the mysticism spells..., but I don't think I'll immerse myself into Skyrim like I did Oblivion.

There will be "mysticism" spells, but they are just embedded into the other spell categories.

I agree with OP.
Oblivion had an amazing feeling. Jeremy Soule's music <3 and the cozy athmosphere.

I'm sure Skyrim will have its own uniqueness. Bethesda seem to be masters of this. I have fallen in love with every single game I've played from them.

Have those words ever been spoken on this forum before??

Nah, I still miss the "feel" of Morrowind so I doubt I'll miss Oblivion. It's just to much like LOTR to be unique enough to be missed. Morrowind however was completely out of this world, or should I say, Tolkien's world. Which is a good thing imo.

I think I'm going to like the brutal nature of Skyrim...

Yes. The brutality such as we have seen so far is going to be good...

No I will not it's nice to have something new.

Nope. Just this for me.

Oblivion was once new and was amazing. Skyrim is going to replace that.

I wont miss it, as i haven't played oblivion in a while, because i got morrowind :celebration: I'm not one of those morrowind addicts who thinks it tops oblivion in every single category either. I love oblivion and it was the first elder scrolls game i played. Then i got morrowind, and liked it better, but i still love oblivion. I wont miss it because i'm playing morrowind now, and wont remember oblivions(and i like morrowinds better)

Sorry to say, but there isn't much i'll miss about Oblivion, assuming Skyrim isn't Oblivion's Morrowind. If the series is dumbed down anymore it's going to really really mess with me..

I like how Skyrim has a really gritty, brutal theme. Nice break from the Alien Landscapes of Morrowind or the Medieval Feel of Oblivion. I originally didn't like the idea of Skyrim as a setting to begin with, but now I think it's great.

I loved Oblivion, but i am excited to move on. I think the revamp of the mechanics and magic system etc will give a rebirth to the amazement factor!

Funny, Skyrim's setting reminds me of Morrowind in some ways. Everything has that "aged" atmosphere.

I loved Morrowind's environment, music, adventuring options, then I loved all the same things about Cyrodiil for different reasons. And I"m sure I'll love Skyrim's new take on this new region of Tamriel, and still go back every once in awhile to still play Oblivion and Morrowind...

I like the fact that every TES game has a different feel to it so I don't mind the difference.
And besides, I replay TES games annually. I'll replay OB alongside other TES games for many times.

If your profile is indeed correct, weren't you 3 when Daggerfall came out? :P :batman:
