Anyone here maxing [Ultra settings] Skyrim with a Core 2 Duo

Post » Mon Dec 05, 2011 11:08 pm

This includes having all sliders set to max and all details set to "ultra".

I have seen a few youtube videos of people with low-level C2D CPU's and a single GTX 260 maxing the game and at a high resolution [1900+].

Anyone here achieving this?

If you're referring to the processor listed under the officially recommended system specs, Todd has stated that a system running on those will be able to run Skyrim on High settings, but not Ultra High.

Sorry that I can't be of more help.

I have everything maxed out except for shadows. I don't disable them for framerates, I just think they're butt-ugly.

Intel Core 2 Duo 3200MHz
Bad Axe 2 D975XbX2 motherboard
Raptor 150 gig 10,000 rpm 16mb cache
2 gigs RAM
GeForce 9800 GTX+ (1g)

To those that have posted already - are all your advanced tab sliders at maximum also?

I have a E8500 (2 cores, 3.16GHz) and a gtx260. 4GB of RAM.
1920x1200.
Windows 7. No crap running in the background.

I am playing the game at max graphical settings.
Only limited settins is that I am running AA at 4x. (Regular one, not FXAA).

I started more conservative. But slowly I've been increasing settings and sliders.
Most of the time I didn't see any lower fps. So I kept improving the image quality.
Now I run everything at Ultra that can be ran at Ultra (including shadows). And the rest at High.
I have changed my config to do extra shadows on trees and shadows on rocks.

I am using the sharpening dll.
http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=21
With a slightly changed .h file. (Purely cosmetic).

My framerates are somewhere between 25 and 60. I'm happy.
The game feels very smooth, even when framerates are 25-40 most of the time.
I did tweak the mouselag thingies (as explained in many places).

No need for me to buy a i5-2500 or gtx560 yet. I'm very happy.
I will now wait for a new CPU (Ivy Bridge) and gpu in March.

How do you manage that? I'm running the game on a Core 2 Quad Q9400 and a Geforce GTX 260 (admittedly only the regular version, is it core 192 or something?) and my framerate in outdoors areas tends to range from 30 (with occasional dips into the high 20s) to around 50 (and 50-60 indoors, including most dungeons).
That's at 1920x1200 with a mix of high and medium settings and 2xAA. I'm running the latest official Nvidia drivers, which did improve framerates considerably over the version I was running before, where ~25-40 fps seemed to be the order of the day.

Im running a i7 2.6 ghz with GTX 260 at 1920X1080 24 in monitor and running every thing on ultra except aa off, I swear it loos better with aa off???????????? I took a bunch of different screen shot with different setting and for the most part have this thing maxed out with all sliders on max. Running 30 to 60 fps smoothly.
I was supprised I could run this high with the 260. I was planning on getting a 560ti but no need now...........woohoooooooooooooo I stoked.........

Glad to hear that the GTX 260 can max this game - and that Dual Core CPU's are enough also!

Core 2 Duo - 3 GHz, 8800GTS 512 MB, 4GB RAM. It's about 3? years old now.

Running everything on maximum and 2560x1600, except radial blur which absolutely destroys my computer for some reason (and obviously AA off).

That's high resolution! Try turning it down a bit - then the Radial Blur won't affect your FPS!
