Read a couple of reviews and watched some gameplay on YouTube and the game looks quite good, downloaded it yesterday so was wondering if anyone had played it on the PC and whether it's any good.
Does it have any relation to Neverwiner Nights? I played that many years ago...
I played it for about a week when it came out. I don't remember much about it now, to be honest. I mainly remember that the city of Neverwinter itself was huge. If you like exploring large cities in video games it might be worth checking out, if only for that. I played the heck out of Neverwinter Nights 1 back in 2002, so it was kind of a treat for me to return to the city.
I remember liking it well enough. But I wasn't really in the mood for an MMO at the time, so I didn't stick with it. I was too busy playing Skyrim back in 2013. I've often thought about giving it another shot though.
Yes, I have. I've leveled up to the 50s and 60s on a couple classes. Fun for a little while but overall I thought it's pretty awful. The combat is dull at first, gets better as you unlock powers, gets dull again after you've unlocked all the good powers. Zones aren't very interesting, most follow the same "Grab 3 quests, kill enemies, turn in, grab 3 quests" cycle ad nauseam. And every class and race follows the same path so you have to play it all over again on alts. It can't hurt to try since it's free. I'll be giving the Paladin class a shot once it's released because I love tanking classes but could never force myself to enjoy the Guardian Fighter.
I played it to level 60 but I stoped playing it when the third module was relesed ( not because of module mind you, by that time I found the game to be horrible tedious). It can be decent fun for a short time, but as other people said there is nothing innovative or really interesting to keep you playing, and once you hit your level 60 all that you are left with are dailies (which quickly become boring), pvp ( which, at least when I played it, was horrible unbalanced to the point where 2 GWF on one team meant that they already won the match) and doing dungeons.
Started to play it with my son a few days ago, I like it. Starts off a little slow but the more I played the better it got. Not a bad game I dl for free.
I played it for a little bit. It was an OK game, but did not hold me for very long. It is a F2P (Free to Play) game which means it wants to "entice" you into its cash shop. There were some troubles with that at first, but hopefully they have that worked by now (a year or two later).
It can be fun, so I do not want to discourage you. It just was not a game for me
None at all. They have "changed Neverwinter" as time has progressed in this version of The Sword Coast.
[EDIT]
Wanted to add: I did not like it because there is no "world", but rather a series of "instanced areas." You do not travel from Neverwinter to the woods nearby. You "port" there.
