When the future patch addresses "difficulty rebalancing"?

I smell a nerf cooking up for those two overpowered skills...

I am hoping they fix the smithing leveling off low skill items and also the crazy enchanting loop.

Probrably not, but the mods will correct it along with the many other things like the ugly console menus etc...

No, because it works just fine. They're only over-powered if you exploit it and spam it to 100.

Since when has Bethesda ever done balance patches? Alchemy was broken in Oblivion, no one gave a damn.

The only balancing it needs is different EXP return values for each item at each level, though whether they use armour/attack value or use of materials is beyond me for the calculations.

Umm... Enchanting is not OP at all except perhaps at very high levels.

I would suggest to them that they need to make the "curve" of enchanting results much more narrow/steeper. It's pointless to have a curve where a petty soul gem gives 1% enhancement when low level items are 10% or more. The current curve is far too broad so that lower levels gems have almost no purpose except for enchanting and selling to drive up the skill. In fact, the curve is so low at the low end that even enchant skill enhancement potions of 10% or so do not result in an increase in the power of the item. This makes all the lower levels pointless. Both Morrowind and Oblivion had enchanting systems where even petty soul gems were useful at low levels or for certain enchanted items for the player (as opposed to simply selling the item for money after making it to train the skill).

I use Smithing and Enchanting only when I need them and thus they are actually a little under-powered for me.

Of course, if I choose to exploit the hell out of the system, I'm sure I could quickly make ridiculous crap to wield.

I have heard of this loop and it ties in with Alchemy. I have seen percentages over +20,000% on the alchemy gear....

Kek a Single player game is in need of nerfing? Last time I checked this wasn't wow. They are good because they take time to invest, stop being so damn lazy and invest the time into them. Was spell making in Oblivion OP? Why yes it was, did they remove it or change it? Didn't think so..

FYI

I wouldn't mind if they didn't nerf it on one condition. They increase the attack power and defense of enemies immensely lol.

After seeing how crazy good those two skills are, I decided to make a new character and only level those skills when I'm around level 50.

I'm hoping folks just come to realize that if they think those skills are OP, they just shouldn't level them up.

No, I hope they do not patch the way the skills work. It's only ridiculously overpowered if you choose to exploit it, and I don't. I like the option of being able to make a demigod character though.

I'd imagine they're going to fix the ungodly synergy between crafting professions and will likely make blacksmithing more difficult to level up.

They said they were going to address balance issues and crafting is THE balance issue in this game, so I do expect nerfs.

The problem with the craft skills is that they get too powerful later on, you should be able to get it to 100, perhaps not as easily as it is but that isn't the major problem... the major problem is being able to make full Lgendary gear for over 1K defence and deadric sword for over 100 damage, before enchantments... toss on 5x +40% one-handed damaged and that hits 300 damage... and with Fire and Frost Damage and 5% recharge on death you pretty much don't even need soul gems anymore. By that point you're probably getting close to being able to OHKO the final boss on master difficulty =/. So yeah... the issue is where the skills end out that makes them OPed.

Agreed, I actually think it is too easy to level up in general, maybe I should lose the guardian stone. :)

Why does Bethesda need to waste their time fixing something that you can easily fix yourself by not abusing? This isn't a multiplayer game. You don't have to worry about what other people are doing. Either don't use smithing and enchanting at all, or simply don't use the parts of it that break the game for you. Bethesda's time is better spent fixing actual bugs and working on new content.

Besides, if someone enjoys running around as an invincible demigod then why shouldn't they be able to?

I agree that it's disheartening for enchanted items found at low levels to be so much better than what the player can make.

I'd also like to see a greater variety of caster-oriented enchants. Natural magicka regen needs to be at a level where 100% cost reduction for a school is less overwhelmingly attractive. Playing a caster I'd normally want a mix of magicka management, resistance, and output increasing enchants, with maybe a little left over for things like feather enchants--and for settling on the optimum balance to be an interesting challenge.

I really haven't found either smithing or enchanting unbalanced, because I've leveled them using only found materials. I agree that you should only be able to level it so high using iron though.
