Anyone interested in a Morrowind Meetup?

Post » Sun Sep 27, 2009 8:49 pm

So, I tried to gauge interest in this kind of thing last year (http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1093744-anyone-ever-considered-a-morrowind-lan-party/), figure I'd try again in 2011.

Sorry to those not in the US, but this is primarily a selfish idea, wanting to see if anyone near me would be interested in a pint and some gaming/socialization.

So - how about it? Pick your location in the poll if you'd be moderately interested in a local Morrowind meetup. The prevailing sentiment last time was that it would be fun to find a dark corner in a pub with couches and plenty of wall sockets for our laptops. Could also be hosted at a player's residence or in a library, allowing for inclusion of under-age folks. I listed the top 38 metro areas in the US, just use your browser's search and try to find your location.

Activities could include - general Morrowinding, modding, mod teaching, contests and competitions, strategy discussion, etc.

If you are sensitive to security issues, I recommend not disclosing your location in the thread (other than in the poll). You can pick more than 1 location if, for example, you're a student - part time at campus and part time at home.

Sounds like a cool idea, I thought of something similar a few years back but it was an Elder Scrolls based medieval fair kinda thing. :P

It'd be a scary sight meeting some of the members of this forum, the way they act while hiding behind a computer without a name or face. With that said, socially playing single player games was big where I lived a long time ago, it'd be fun to pick that up again.

Great idea -- I've never been able to talk with any real fans of TES except for on the forum.

There was a thread in the General Discussion forum a couple years ago asking who has met members of these forums in real life. I was surprised at how many of us have met. More than I ever would have thought.

I have only met one person from the Bethesda forums. There are about five or six others who I would very much love to meet someday. The rest of you scare me. :)

Some mornings, when I look in the mirrior, I scare me.

Back in the "old days" before the Internet got popular, and private BBS sites were big, a bunch of us from a regional BBS got together. It was interesting to put faces behind the walls of text, and most of the half-dozen of us who showed up were totally unlike what the rest expected.

If one was relatively "local", I'd consider it. I wouldn't make a 2 hour drive, though.
