Anyone know of any good "Let's Plays" of this game?

Post » Mon May 07, 2012 7:19 am

I feel the need for some ES and since both my PS3 and my TV bit the dust not too long ago i was looking for some good playthrough videos i could watch. I do enjoy watching Let's play videos when they are done right. So here's what i a looking for:

It needs to be a blind playthrough, as in the person is playing for the first time, otherwise it's just boring. In high quality so i can watch in full screen and not have pixels everywhere, and finally the person playing has to actually be likable and not a annoying to listen too. This is the most important thing, too many of these videos are done by dudebros or really annoying people that are in love with the sound of their own voice, constantly shouting dumb catch phrases and talking over in game dialog.

There's Gix. He's about as nooby you can get when it comes to Elder Scrolls, lol. I haven't seen his Oblivion let's play, but I have seen his Morrowind and Daggerfall LPs, and they're blind play throughs. They're pretty funny. It's kind of frustrating to watch sometimes, because you feel like you just wanna grab the keyboard and mouse and play it for him.

I did come across his channel on my own when i was searching, i didn't noticed he had a Oblivion videos also. I was going to watch his morrowind playthorugh but then i noticed that 1/3 of the screen is dedicated to his face. WHY? Why would i want to look at YOU playing the game  He says he played Oblivion before also so it's not a blind run, it also looks like he stopped playing it two months ago :(

It's so hard to find a good Let's play of this, strange for such a popular game. I found one this chick was doing that was really promising, she was awful at it but everything else was there. Then she found the difficulty slider... :banghead:

Thank you for your suggestion though, and if anyone else would like to contribute with one i would appreciate it.

Dude I honestly just bought the game a week ago, this is my first play through ever in this game. I had to try it after loving Fallout 3. I wish there was a way you could watch my playthrough but I don't have any of that recording equiptment :(

I watched a few of Gixes "let's play videos ". I remember one segment where he devoted about half of the video trying to put a book on a shelf.

His facial expressions makes the LP even more enjoyable! It makes it unique.

I just started watching his Oblivion playthrough, and he doesn't have any portions on the screen devoted to his face so far.

Now that's what I call role-play!

Well, i gave up looking one my own, i just have to accept the fact that it doesn't exist. There isn't an enjoyable, high quality, blind playthrough of Oblivion.

This girl is new, but definitely more interesting than a lot of them. Also seems blind (has left behind or missed several unique weapons), not sure though:

He has done About every quest in the game, And decorated his house with all his Items, he recently started a new Oblivion LP Where he doesn't fast travel, Use healing spells, etc....

I like http://www.youtube.com/user/GameplayJenny (love her voice) she's funny and seems a little crazy, but in a good way.
And I like http://www.youtube.com/user/Nagidal146 Again, I like his voice. Though I can't tell when he is in or out of character. He also has an awful haircut at the moment but, whatever.

I've followed Ms Jenny's Cyrodiilic misadventure since their not-so-humble beginnings. It is indeed an excellent Oblivion Let's Play. My second favorite actually, bested only by Veriax's very different Let's Play. Jenny has quite the voice, a gift for gab, and a wit to match. Her videos are rather humorous. She imbues her avatar with quite a bit of ...ummm...character.

I don't know that I'd classify hers as a "blind" Let's Play, though you're right that she does sometimes seem to overlook the obvious. That could of course be intentional.

While watching her installments I sometimes think she doesn't much like the game, at least certain aspects of it, treating the game-world in a cavalier manner. That's normally a fatal flaw for me. Yet she handles it so well she transforms a potential deficit into a positive attribute.

If you read this Ms Jenny ... I know you sometimes visit this forum ... my hat's off to you. Well, it would be if I was wearing a hat. My teeth are out for you in any case.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qg5tNMOvt28&feature=relmfu is my favourite, he's a chill guy and isn't talking about pointless [censored] and trying to act cool like 99% of the guys on YouTube. He hasn't finished the game by any measure though, he's at part 58 or something so far in his Let's Play(with many 41a, 41b etc. parts aswell).

It's not totally blind, but I'm 'blind' enough for it to appear that way

The whole thing was started as a bit of an experiment while I was recovering from an operation, really just to see if I could do it. The fact that 500+ people seem to find it as entertaining to watch as I do to make (or more, in the case of some of my more committed followers!) is flattering, and I am very happy that something relatively small can give people a few moments of enjoyment.

Sadly I've got more surgery tomorrow, but I am hoping that it won't stop me getting new videos out this week.

For everyone who has already subscribed, thank you very much indeed.

I want to thank every one of you for your suggestions. I guess I'll give one of those playthroughs a try eventually, if no one starts a new blind one in the coming days
Who knows, i might get lucky since Skyrim is coming up and interest in the series should be peaking again. In the meanwhile, I'll go look for a blind run of Morrowind. This might actually prove to be harder then the finding a Oblivion one considering the gameplay is not as interesting to watch and there is little to no dialog.
