You can take a 32-bit save game file and export it to a 64-bit installation and have it work?

Since I can't get NV working with Win 7 Pro 64 bit I am going to install a 32 bit Win XP partition and run it off of that. Obviously I would like to export the save file to Win 7 after the game is patched.
