Anyone know what creatures are likely to be in Skyrim?

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 12:38 pm

I don't know much about the lore in TES, but is there any mention of the creatures that are likely to exist there?

Are we likely to see some of the same creatures from TESIV or Morrowind also?

Probably a lot of creatures that were in Oblivion plus some new ones that are used to the cold winters that Skyrim has.

I'll guess that Goblins, Ogres, Minotaurs, Snow Bears (Its Skyrim why not), Vampires, Rats, to name a few will probably be in the game.

I was reading a little about Skyrim last night. Apparently there's supposed to be a mythical race of snow-elves that live there but most dismiss them as fairy tales. Judging from the mural there's probably going to be a lot of undead creatures but I don't know if they'll be native or not.

Bears, wolves, maybe goblins, reiklings, frost giants, perhaps snow whales, and of course dragons.

I really hope they don't put in generic creatures.

It will have Nords, most likely. The most annoying, overbearing and loud creatures you'll ever find this side of Tamriel :read:

Next to that I'm guessing we'd be seeing everything one could imagine living in a relative cold climate. Bears, Boars, Wolves, Horkers, Spriggans, Ice Yetis, Minotaurs, Ogres, Penguin-things, White Killer Rabbits and more. Maybe even Giants :)

I'm sure it will be very diverse and fitting

Hopefully some far-out stuff that we haven't seen yet. I'm hoping for huge cave-bears, and perhaps a Yeti kind-of creature.

Bigger Bears, bigger wolves, Yeti, Walrus-modeled enemies, weasels, (giant) snow owls, special-Vampires (from "Immortal Blood"), Dragons (of-course), territorial Reindeer, ect. These things would make me happy in terms of enemies.

EDIT: Silly me! I forgot the Ice-Giants! I want to do a Conan character-build, dammit!

I hope they put in lots of small animals, for atmosphere. Especially in a setting like Skyrim, it should feel like the forests are alive with fauna! I can't imagine that they could get away with not doing so by this day and age.

Some Oblivion mod added small rabbits, birds, foxes, etc. and it made such a huge difference for me. So, I'd really love to see a bunch of cold-weather critters roaming about and becoming prey to the larger beasts. Mountain lions, bears, wolves, reindeer or elk seem like musts. Fantasy non-humanoid animals, like gargoyles, too. I would love to see some feral dogs, maybe Great Pyrenees or sled dog in appearance, but varied.

Snow owls and weasels/mink would be great. In fact, I demand snow owls! And I want animals that live in the cold mountains to look like they live in such an environment, and at least want them to be generally larger and lighter in color.

Cliffracers?

NEVER!!! I'm glad Bethesda didn't implement them in Oblivion, and I would hope they definitely don't make an appearance in Skyrim. I think anyone that played Morrowind can unanimously agree on this. In terms of actual creatures, I would say look at Bloodmoon, as it will probably be most similar in terms of environment, and it is an island inhabited by Nords.

Rats would probably make it into the game, as well as the ever-present Undead, be they draugrs, zombies, skeletons or other types on undead.

More stuff along the lines of horkers. C'mon, HORKERS!!!! WHOO!!!

Reminiscent of a real animal, but twisted in a fantasy style. Let's please take this in the direction of Morrowind (normal animal: rat, everything else is weird and alien) not Oblivion (you've seen everything before somewhere)

I liked cliff racers in MW, and in my opinion, they don't need to be annoying in Skyrim.
