Anyone knows if there's a web manual for this game?

Post » Tue Jan 19, 2016 5:55 am

Or do they honestly expect us to fork out another 40 to use the game to it's full potential by buying a bound book?

I love this game, but this is really starting to get on my nerves. When setting up settlements, especially shops, there are some weird numbers on top of the screen. Obviously some kind of requirements, but nobody bothers with any explanation of what they actually mean, since the help is a joke, not even trying to deviate from the mere basics.

In short, I want to know what I'm doing and when I'm well equipped doing it. It's not too much to ask for a manual, after having already paid 59 for the game.

Yes, the settlement building tutorials are a joke. I've mostly been ignoring the settlement aspect and focusing on adventuring. Your best bet is Youtube. I've seen several tutorials for building settlements, though I haven't been sufficiently interested to watch.

Do you mean People, Food, Water, Power, Defense, Beds, Happy, and Size. I hope you mean something else cause those are all extremely basic.

Then what DID you mean by this then?

There may not be anything written anywhere that explains what your talking about. Why don't you try to explain it to us and maybe we can help.

The Options menu has many tutorials in the Help section. They helped me figure out a few things.

Most things that people complain about not understanding are explained in the tutorials that come with the game.

Also, the wikis are a great source of info to understand some things. http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Fallout_Wiki

I rely on the pop-up information boxes to tell me information...... and to the odd helpful poster telling us.... press key " " it does this.

It's not a spoiler.... it's an essential to playing the game.

Edit....... and what Mod said above.

When you set up a shop, there are the requirements to the right. For emporiums it's supposed local leader 2 and cap collector 2. Yet there's annother number cropping up at the top of the screen, which isn't explained at all. Just to take something at random, let's make this a 24.

To stay with this example, I have 27 settlers at sanctuary, many more in directly connected settlements, have local leader and caps collector maxed and still the game refuses to let me build the emporiums except the clinic. There's a padlock symbol over the caps collector popup too. All these numbers aren't explained anywhere. I only see that I can't build what I'm wanting to build. So I can only guess what the mean and that's quite a lot of guessing. Do the mean, to take the 24 again, 24 settlers, 24 overall settlers or 24 settlements?

i think the number your referring to is the number of that particular object that you can build with your current resources.

A lock on cap collector means you need to unlock the perk in order to build it.

Well obviously the padlock means that you don't have that requirement. As for the other number do you mean Trading Emporium (24) or something like that? That number is how many you can build with the number of materials you have. Get the proper perk and you can build it.

With cap collector maxed out? How so? It's at maximum, so this has to be a bug. Maybe only with my game not registering my perks.

If your meeting the perk requirements and have the materials to build it, my next question would be: Is your Size bar maxed out in that settlement ?

Suggest you start over! First press [ESC] and select HELP topics in the menu and read them all for example about settlement happiness.

The game gives you a role as father or mother to a lost son. It is more in line with the story if your character immediately pursue what quest that intends on finding him and until then leave settlement building and other quests and radio alerts behind, which means bringing your character as quickly as possible to the big city in the center of the map ...

I bought a book during my pre-release excitement, but now at level 52 I still haven't looked at it. The writing is soooo tiny that it literally gives me a headache. Anything I've wanted to do, I just google it and there's the answer. I've never NOT found what I was looking for.
