Anyone looking forward to the PvP?

Post » Wed Feb 05, 2014 12:10 pm

I did not notice any dedicated PvP topics; maybe I just did not see them. Anyone else out there interested in the PvP content?

It looks like it will be free for all at the start, with so many character building options. (skills wise). I hope things don't get stale like other PvP content in other MMOs. You know where after a few months, if you don't have you character build set up in one of the four only viable builds, you will have no hope in winning. I am sure there will be some builds that are better than others, but I am hoping that the developers have come up with some new ideas for us to use.

Hell Yeah, that's going to be most of my focus. If Zenimax pulls this off right, PvP will be a huge and interesting part of the game.

I have not found a PVP system yet to intrigue me to keep playing, but I will certainly try TESO's version and hope that the trend of me not caring for PVP ends with this game (doubtful though).

Really looking forward to it. If the combat isn't based around auto attacks like other mmo's, or just people who can stun forever and what-not, it seems that there will always be much diversity.

most mmorpgs can be fun for a few months

for me to play anything for a long time, there need to be good PVP, and the rewards for PVP has to be permanent.

If the rewards are just items(that we all know will be obsolete in next patch), then ill likely get the first set, and if the pvp is really good maybe the next, but items as rewards wont keep me playing for years.

for me there absolutely need to be passives or skills i can get as rewards for PVP, if i have no character progression beyond items, i wont be playing for long.

i loved DAOC and played it for years, ever since then no game has been able to keep me playing beyond a few months, and its usually the lack of character progression that turns me off eventually.

im not saying there shouldnt be item progression, even fluff(titles and other crap) is fine, it just cant be the only progression. there needs to be something that is still good after the next expansion.

i remember in wow being the first on my server(maybe the world?) to get the alterac valley, 2 handed hammer with a knockdown for my warrior, and it was bloody awesome!!, then after some time there's an expansion raising the level cap or just having better items, and all that time i farmed alterac is suddenly wasted!!! and i literally played 20+ hours a day untill i had the bloody thing :( so yeah i said byebye and never looked back

The Daoc minority isnt terribly vocal especially because there isnt much to speak about at the moment, but we just cant wait for the game to be released

Here is hoping that the CC does not dominate in PvP, or maybe a better way of saying it; I hope CC does not kill the PvP experience.

Yeah I agree I was contemplating starting one myself.

It is my personal opinion based off what I have looked up on the classes and different skill lines on Tamriel Foundry, that in the first few months of the game there will be a chaotic storm of random off the wall builds that might get some marginal success in pvp but later a while there will probably be more refined "cookie-cutter" builds. It is still my belief however very skilled PvPers and players in general for both PvP and PvE will come up with some crazy builds that will completely smash the mold and inspire people to create different builds.

Basically those "Cookie-cutter" builds will probably be very popular with newer players just learning the game and more seasoned pros will have really refined builds that most likely wont come close to the cookie cutter mold any longer and based off their personal play style. Just from what we know already thanks to fan sites their are vast options, and I have no doubt once the NDA is terminated and we can learn more about the game (or maybe even play it by that time) we will see even more ways to diverge from the standard holy trinity type builds.

I can't wait!!

I'm really excited about it. I really hope that people are open to experimentation and trying unique build ideas rather than just figuring out what is "best". I can't wait to fight to be fighting a heavy armored, greataxe wielding warrior and then have him all of a suden pull out a destruction staff and blow me away - literally and figuratively! I think I am going to have a lot of fun playing with my own build, experiencing other peoples characters, getting inspired and trying out a new combination.

I would like the PvP in ESO to be good, but I have this fear it will be a bunnyhopping, circle strafing, zerg fest with people running through each other to get out of their field of view.
