Anyone making big quest mods for Elsweyr the Deserts of Aneq

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 4:47 pm

Does anyone know if someone or some team is making a big quest mod for Elsweyr the Deserts of Anequina?

The place looks amazing but I would like to wait until there's a big quest mod to play in it =)

What I would love is some genius to make a Kregenir's Death Quest style mod for Elsweyr.

I must say I haven't actually looked at this mod yet before. I just had a look here and there and it looks awesome.. I won't be making quests for it myself but hopefully others will. :)

Having random miscellaneous quests all over the place, possibly along with one central storyline, like Kragenir's Death Quest, would be great indeed. Or smaller 'quest packs' created by different modders all focusing on a different area.

From what I've understood it's currently a large landmass with settlements and NPCs all in place, but no quests yet? What about dialogue?

If I do for whatever reason decide that I want to make more quests for Oblivion and not have it be another Kragenir's Death Quest content update, it could be for this mod. I think Cyrodiil has enough quests at this point. :P

Are you guys talking about adding quests for a mod that allows you to go to Elsweyr?

It would be awsome if you decided to inject some quest life into Iliana's mod povu :foodndrink:

I've installed that mod and I checked out the first town or so, but I never explored too far. I might go back sometime later, but It would be awesome if there was some quests there that really drag you into the area and Khajiit life.

What's wrong with the quests already included in the mod? To few?

Anyway, Ilianas mod has been canceled. And, depending on how the events unfold, might be removed from TES Nexus entirely. I had planed for a plug-in for the mod, but my recent project took much longer then I thought. If she decides to upload it somewhere else, I might still go through with my ideas. It was to be centered around the "rebells" of the http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Renrijra_Krin

I don't know how good of a quest/dialogue writer I am though. Malchik wrote 99% of the Kragenir's Death Quest quests and dialogue. I think my dialogue would be more to the point. :D

That and the fact that the Nexus lately has been crowded by first-time users that complain before they read the description/FAQ and blame their incompetence on the uploader or the people trying to help. The reason she decided to remove/hide it is because the last week the mod has gotten two "thumbs down" for not working or not being compatible. Witch off course is total bullcrap since there are almost 1000 "thumbs up" and over 200'000 downloads. The younger users are just to lazy to do any work or thinking of their own...

The reason I know this is because I've helped Iliana work the "help desk" since the end of last summer. And when she got tired of it SabotageSam pitched in and helped me. But even so we were overrun by the incompetence of users not even skilled enough to unpack a RAR-file. And yesterday I was ordered by Iliana to stand down and no longer offer my aid. Shortly after that she decided to remove/hide the mod entirely.

This was her last message:
"@Dreadcore
Please don't provide any more support for this mod. People are just abusing our goodwill. I am thinking about now removing this mod from tesnexus and hosting it somewhere else instead."

So, hopefully she'll host it on Rapidshare or some similar site. Right now we have to put or faith in the Rimmen team...

But why does that matter so much? Seriously, you just call those people dumb or tell them to learn to read and be done with it.

Well, imagine how you'd feel if you're going through a personal tragedy, and people are constantly bugging you with trivial questions and telling you that your work svcks.

And just telling the noobs what to do just doesn't seem to work. We've wrote down guides how to turn of borders, how to unpack the RAR-files correctly, where the quests are, how to use the TESLodGen and SabotageSam even made an OMOD. And STILL people come back with the same tiresome questions. And when we try to explain that "No, you obviously didn't do it right", they get defensive and rude. It just gets on your nerves.

And it's not like we can just tell them to [censored] of. I don't know how it works here on the official forums. But on the Nexus if a guy's bugging me with stupid questions and I sass him of, I'm the one getting warned. It just got to much for her to handle I guess. And with the recent ugliness with the endorsemants I guess Iliana gave up on the Nexus crowd. After all it's not the first time a great moder got chased away from the Nexus with torches. Same thing happened when the crowd decided that Jannix Quinn's mods weren't "Lore Enough", so he packed up and left...

Anyway, I'm really not the right person to defend or condemn Ilianas actions. But in my mind she's a brilliant moder and a good person. I just hope people won't condemn her for her decision. After all, that would just prove her point...

Such a shame. I remember when the mod was just quiant little Riverhold!
In any case, I think leaving Nexus would be a good idea. No one needs stress from something like this, which should just be a fun pastime.

And I suppose as long as it goes back up on a different site, theres no reason people couldnt make extra quests based in the mod?

Why not just turn off comments and edorsemants and write RTFM
in big, friendly letters? Why let people who can't tie their own shoe laces have such power over one self?

Exactly, as long as you have the core files you can pretty much do as many plug-in's you like. And Iliana has left the playingfield open, but a friendly email describing your ideas and asking for permission is always a good idea :)

Well, I presented that idea to her in my last entry, but it's her choice. Since the thread is still up at the Nexus forums it might not be deleted, just hidden from view. But the thing is, if she leaves it on the Nexus she'll probably get even more annoying PM's and emails. But yea, she could upload it without comments and endorsments, change her email and never login on the Nexus again. That would be the only way to get away from the nuisance that is noobs :P

The mod isn't deleted, I just hit the "hide" button on tesnexus to remove it from view it for awhile. When it drops off the bottom of the top 25 in a couple of weeks then I'll reactivate it. In the meantime its still available through Megaupload. The link in my thread somewhere.

As far as quests go, I think I made about 28 or so for the mod. Plus the separate Anequina Mansion mod includes a quest, and this new one develops the region around Alabaster with new places and dungeons to explore--

I know a couple of other modders said they were going to create quest mods for it last December, but I think they have both fallen through.

I heartily endorse this mod. It's a fantastic piece of work, and the amount of time and energy Iliana and other people have put into shows. Yeah, I might be laying it on a bit thick, but it's all true, so there. :P

Ooh, I didn't see that one. Thanks!

Anyone interested in Anequina mods should just do a search on TESNexus for "Elsweyr" - you'll turn up a bunch of stuff, like an Arabian music pack, loading screens (vanilla and DarkUI), and Reaper's Anequina Manor, among others. I highly recommend all three of these - they're very well done. There are also people working on the Kingdom of Rimmen, and Googlepox started something for Torval (I think it's Torval).

Uglulyx was making a quest mod for Elsweyr, but there haven't been any updates in a long time.
