Anyone not like the look of orcs?

Post » Wed Dec 14, 2011 9:35 am

At first I did like it but the more I see them the more I realize they are just humans with big jaws and teeth.

Orcs should look like orcs.....like LotR or something of your own design.

Just fyi, I love this game. The complaints I'm making are trivial in my eyes....more or less nitpicking.

I really like their look in Skyrim, I hated how they looked in Morrowind and Oblivion. But every race looked odd in Oblivion, like they all had chubby cheeks.

Orcs are perfect in Skyrim. I wouldn't play a male one though. When I first saw the presets for the races before the game was released, I knew I was going to play an Orc female.

Hmm, yes. A huge improvement on Oblivion. That game had many sterling qualities, but NPCs faces ? Not one of them. Orcs looked like green humans wearing a mask. With pinkish cheeks, for a few of them. *shudders*

Skyrim, now... They look alien. There is a humanoid shape still, but something wild tells you right off, nope, not human pal.

I am okay with the beast races and orcs being human-bodied considering how much better they look overall. They have to make all gear fit to all races, would be pretty difficult to do with multiple body types that vary so much. Maybe in future TES games, but I can understand why they didn't think it was worth putting the time into that as opposed to something else.

orcs in this series are cursed elves and now they look the part they look hideous and beastly but at the same time you can tell they used to be elves.

I think they look better than ever before. Morrowind was too beastly and Oblivion was way too goofy (although you could say that for all of the Oblivion races...). Now the look is just right.

Orcs were never a beast race nor were they ever supposed to look like something out of the Tolken universe. They are elves that were cursed when Boethiah ate Trinimac, turning him into Malacath and the Orsimer, who worshiped him, into Orcs.

I think they look amazing.

I think they look awesome, proper TES orcs. The ones in Oblivion looked terrible though.

hmmm like LotR............ or something of your own design
Didn't Bethesda make them of their own design, they would look like the mangled goblins of LotR, these Orcs arn't inherently evil

I made an orc, Took me 25 mins to make his face look decent. After that I had to wear helm (full face helm) now I can't tell the difference between my orc toon and my Nord, they walk same, act same almost same speech. I wish orcs had a bit more "LOTR" design. I still like it but seriously while in full armor I can't tell the difference between orcs and humans.

Now that I know the back-story I can see them in a new light.

It helps to have this info. :)

You know Orcs are decended/where once Elves, right?

As a 100% huge, Tolkien-bashing, lore-monkey I can safely say making the Orcs look like the Orcs from Peter Jackon's movies, or any of the other artistic represantation would be stupid as [censored].

Luckily they Morrowindified Orcs for Skyrim. I hated the big green Shreks in Oblivion.

I love the new look! I don't understand your logic, though. The Dunmer are just humans with long ears and grey skin if you are going to break it down like that.

I'll agree! The only race that I don't think looks better than previous renditions are the Argonians. They look... stoned. :P
