Anyone planning on carrying over their character from Oblivi

Post » Fri Feb 18, 2011 11:43 pm

I've just been goofin around until skyrim comes out, playin some black ops, minecraft, and WoW mostly. Then I started to have a craving for Oblivion, and that made me think, why not start a new character, play him through the main storyline and do whatever else with him, and then just sort of carry him over once I get skyrim.

Anyone else planning on doing this with Oblivion or some other similar game? Or are you gonna just make a new character.

I would but Skyrim takes place about 200 years (or is it 100 I dunno) after Oblivion and no one would mention the feats of that 200 year old hero that closed the Oblivion gates so there is no reason for my character to be a descendant of my hero in Oblivion so no I will not

EDIT: Considering that you are into transferring your character I assume you are into RPing and from the comment above you say you are no lore junkie. What? IMO every RPer should be a "lore junkie"

A lot of players I'm sure will play a character very similar to the ones they played in previous games, but as they're changing so much about character creation there's no way to do any sort of direct carry over even if it made sense lore wise.

I would carry over my characters lineage. For example I have a character, Valessa Vedelea (Dunmer), Whom I plan on creating her great great great great (is that enough) grand-daughter/son.

I think my characters already are big enough Mary Sues without having them partake in every Elder Scrolls game.

I will. I like to RP an insane lich Mage that I invented for morrowind. As part of the proccess that made me immortal part of my long term memory and reasoning abilities were damaged. In my quest for ultimate power I sometimes have to take time out to save all of tamriel cause basically.....I like it the way it is. The times that there is true peril are the times when I'm able to focus most and usually remember things I've forgotten.

The time in between I'm pretty much travelling and being randomly insane, I keep loosing track of Umbra....I think I lost it in a bet once. And I seem to forget most of my spells too. Although flare still works.......I could have sworn I could fly at one point.

In an open world game which allows any character to be any thing they like, so their next incarnation could have any background, and after 200 years from the last game in a game that includes human characters who do not last that long: No thanks.

No, my DB listener will now be dust and quite happy to accept that. Skyrim is a whole new gameworld and will be happy to explore it with a different type of character :)

I usually make new character for each. After all, that character's destiny is fulfilled and their lives are over at this time.

However, making a Dunmer/Altmer in any of TES2-4 and then making another Dunmer/Altmer that look similar but older makes sense, especially if they're wizards. 200 year old elf wizards ftw.

New character, although he'll use the exact same fighting style, will also be a Breton and will have the same personality. The last character is Sheogorath now  .

Fresh start for me - although I do like the lineage idea that someone mentioned. Maybe a relative of a previous character.

I just realized that the RP I have going for my character might not work in Skyrim so I'm not really sure, but I voted yes anyways because I'll make the same character irregardless of whether or not the story makes sense for him

Yep, I'm bringing the same character from Morrowind and Oblivion.

Being the Nerevarine helps I guess.

New Character, same blood line

Maybe they should add in a feature where you can list notable ancestors of you character and then their names would pop-up in certain Radiant Story quests?

Only one, Narved Chillvein, my Nord warrior.
This is how it's gonna go down:

Narved was injured. He was out in the Great Forest, in the middle of nowhere. No one was coming to save him.
He wasn't sure why the minotaurs had attacked. There were ten of them and a minotaur lord.
He had beaten them back and killed the lord. Not before it had pierced him through the ribcage with it's horn though.
And as he lay there, stranded with his lifeblood flowing onto the cold hard ground, he grunted.
It was not his time to die on this day. Not like this.

And yet, in the 3E in the month of Frostfall, Narved died.
In the 3E late on into the Sixth Century, there was a young boy, broken and hurting, but very much alive.
His name is Narved Chillvein.
He is Dovakiin.
Dragonborn.
