I do believe this was talked about before, with the Heavy and light being enemies or something like that, and the medium just being like WTF?

Yeah I have a friend that needs to write the script. The heavy and the light need to have a love hate relationship. Especially the ones on the same team.

A RvB for Brink would be great fun especially with the customization in the game you can have different looking characters that represent their personalities instead of just choosing a color.

Hey mate, I actually want to do writing and communications as a job, I could help expedite the script writing process lol

Are you guys kidding me?

"COPS!"This game would be perfect for a mechinima version of COPS. It can be funny like RVB, but mainly be the in the style of cops when you a camera man following one or two security as they hassal the resistance.

To be even you there could be a pirated episode from a resistance perspective and see the cop abuse and random crap they want to hide. Maybe a [censored] stunt or two.

I guess that would make it more of RENO 911

BUt since this is just knowledge of anyone planning on making a machinma, then those who have gathered to make a machinima should have a common agreement on what the project should be.

I can provide footage from a PS3, but it wouldn't be in high quality.

If this game has a proper spectator mode ...

For a proper machinima, you need at least something similar to Halo. Even better something similar to Uncharted 2 (theatre mode).

RvB just used another character to "film" for the longest time. That's why they have the black bars at the top and bottom in the first few seasons, to cover the HUD. So lack of spectator mode doesn't prevent machinima.

There are actually some pretty amusing stories of how they got certain camera effects in RvB. Like in the start of the first episode, they have the camera rise up over the side of the base to find Simmons and Grif talking. In order to do that they had the cameraman standing on a scorpion tank as it drove up the wall. I forget how many takes they said they took to get it right, but it was a lot.

Can someone enlighten me on the meaning of RvB?

I really hope that there will be a crazy ass action machinima, involving usage of the SMART system.

It is a Halo based machinma weekly internet show that went oddly mainstream around 2004. I remember everyone in school was talking about it at the time. Its not as mainstream anymore, but it is still the most popular machinma I know of.

It started off as just making fun of stupid stuff in the military, but quickly went off on its own course.

Didn't it become well known and mainstream with the launch of Youtube?

I really don't know, I was heavy into Halo at the time, so I found out about it long before it became mainstream.

Edit: According to wiki, youtube came out Feb 2005, but RvB was getting a million hits a week in 2004.

Maybe you can talk to Rooster Teeth about it. Give them suggestions and stuff. Geoff and Jack play lots of games all the time so I'm quite sure they will know what you're talking about. Also I'm pretty confident to say that they will do Achievement Hunters on Brink.

A Machinima can be done without an in game theater mode. It will be more difficult.

What is wrong with a machinima? Even if the result is not state of the art, there are still people who will watch and like it. And the guys who made it, probably enjoy making videos.

Fragmovies are "one of those dumb things that people somehow like", imo.

Machinimas, on the other hand have much more depth and usually some comedy or seriousness to them.

This is one of these things that I've never enjoyed. I don't have friends who enjoy them, or enough to talk about them. I'm sure some people enjoy them, but the comedy in them is quite simply rude, crude, and socially unacceptable most of the time.
