Anyone plans to total anni...I means cleanup of wasteland?

Post » Sat Nov 28, 2015 1:31 pm

I used to be very crazy on collecting junk. I searched each and every container( including corpses ), looked at every corner of the area just for collecting useless junk such as pencil and scorched book and turn them into....another type of junk such as lead and blank magazine. I think the time I spent on this is more than exploring and fighting :D

Now that I knew we are not only able to collect junk, but are able to scrap most of the things including house in wasteland, I'm afraid I will wasting time on crazy scrapping activities! Someone please stop me! :bonk:

Preston, can I scrap the museum?

I am guilty of being a wasteland janitor. I literally take everything that's not nailed down. I have a problem and I readily admit it. I do whole-heartedly think Fallout 4 is going to make this worse because of the crafting and settlement building. This might be a good thing though because there will be more practical uses for all the junk I collect.

Join the Enclave you most wretched fellow pack rat. This will give you all the justification you will need for this megalomaniac, compulsive behavior.

I don't know about total clean up, but I will surely be collecting an awful lot of stuff, since apparently even more of it will be useful in crafting.

STILL OCD about WRK components. :teehee:

I take everything. EVERYTHING! I cleaned up entire buildings, factories and metro systems in FO3 without even resorting to god mode or bags of holding.

I really really do not want to have to break down any of those beautiful Lustron homes in Sanctuary Hills to make scrap though >.<

Not only do I collect almost everything I find, I never actually use fast travel.

So unless we're given the option to use a vertibird as a pack mule, it's going to be a long time getting to all the quests!

I plan to find a place to stash things and then begin scouring the wastes for anything and everything in an ever expanding circle. I do not want to be left wanting for a screw or other little piece when assembling my "greatest weapon... IN THE WORLD!"

I wanted so badly to clean up the concourse at Camp McCarran that once I actually spent forever picking it all up and piling it up next to the trash can (because putting it in my inventory was stealing), only to find the cell had reset and the stuff was right back the next time I went there. :pinch:

The most agonizing part for me will be how much weight limitation will exist on your char assuming they're not wearing a power suit. And how much more you can carry with the PA.

But the more I think about it, it may be possible to carry all your heavy junk around in your own vertibird. Especially now that we know the PC can summon one using a flare gun.

Otherwise, it's back to the tried and truly cheaty TGM mode....

Edit: the first XP levels are going to be real challenging since I want to setup a home base right out the vault. Then quickly grow that into a thriving settlement complete with regular Brahmin caravans between at least one other settlement.

Also want a safe place where Dogmeat can call home when I'm not adventuring with him. And a central base whatever followers my PC has to call home.

And I also prefer stealthy PCs over overmuscled, Neanderthal brutes. So saluaging & horsing junk will be a full time career for my PC early on. So getting around to doing any quests is likely going to take a long, long time irl :D

I'm probably managing my inventory more than actually killing people so yeah. I'm also the kind of person who will slow walk all the way back to town so I can keep my stuff.

It gets even worse if you play with the TTW mod. Before playing both wastelands with TTW, I had zero use for clutter like pencils in the DC Wasteland. This particular piece of junk learned to fear my PC's footsteps as he came tromping by. He simply couldn't seem to find enough pencils to collect for Willow for some bizzare reason :/

Now that everything has value, this will actually be very hard to resist!

In fallout 3, I used to use the desk upstairs in the Megaton house for all of my 'junk' that I was going to sell. And all the gear that I was keeping would go into the other containers. I would sometimes end up with thousands of items before I sold any of it. I once even set up camp in the Abandoned Tent in the Northern part of the map and carried all of my stuff there without using fast travel!

Took forever, but it was worth it just for that 'surviving in the wilderness' feel. Oh, and of course, enemies :D

I actually used the Filing Cabinet to store everything I picked up. I was looking through the list the other day and its crazy what that cabinet holds.

Yep, I'm going to be spending half of the game trying to make my ultimate base of operations. Taking a lot of notes from the Batcave... :bonk:
