Anyone play this game in 3D?

Post » Thu Jun 02, 2011 6:16 am

Do you?

Played Crysis 2 in 3D on 1920 x 1200 resolution and it looks amazing. It may be the best 3D ran game in all of 3D gaming I know. The reviews kept saying "well because of the in house engine, pop out doens't look as good". As a 3D gamer, I've played other titles like Mass Effect 1, 2, Assassin's Creed 1, 2, Brotherhood, Rainbow Six Vegas, Splinter Cell Conviction, Battlefield Bad Company 2, GTA IV, all in 3D and they all have some issues here and there, usually with incorrect shadows or crosshair doubling on the screen.

Crysis 2? No problems so far. With NVIDIA 3D VISION, I've maxed out Depth Amount to 100% and **** pops out of the screen like no other and there's in-depth too. Better than 3D in the movie theaters. Not even AVATAR IMAX or TRON LEGACY IMAX can compare.

My only gripe? Well, despite Crysis 2 running at 60 FPS or higher in 3D, the textures are still crap. There's still no DX11, and the game itself is still consolized. But Crysis 2 shines in the 3D department.

Just my two cents. I now go drink to obliviionvonovnovnonvonvonvn again while gaming on a JEDI server for Crysis 2... While I've got two midterms due tomorrow and a **** ton of essays. GO COLLEGE LIFE.

[SPOILER]
Alcatraz, it's Chino, man! Remember me? *hands out gun to Alcatraz*
*I stupidly reach with my real hand trying to grab gun that popped out of my screen*

Ya, I play and it is sweet. I play on Alienware M17xR3 and in 3D at 1920x1080 at Very High I get about 28-32 frames so it's playable. It's fun. Online is hard as hell though. But then the online is filled with hackers and cheaters so I don't even bother playin anymore.....No point and it's a shame cause the levels are great and could be good if they got rid of the hacking but I don't see that happening anytime soon....

I agree. The 3d is done beautifully in this game. As far as FPS is concerned this should set the example in 3d gaming. I dont play it in multiplayer but I do in campaign. Good job crytek on this aspect.

I like the 3D, but the messed up glows and halos is very distracting, making it almost unplayable for me.

The NVIDIA 3D VISION driver support is near-flawless. I've never seen another game that allowed you to totally max out the Depth Amount and still be playable. For instance, in Mafia II, maximizing the depth amount beyond about 25% causes double vision to occur. 3D Vision fail lol.

Notably, Crysis 2's 3D trumps Crysis 1's 3D support by far. NVIDIA branded Crysis 1 with a "good" rating for 3D support, but you had to turn off shadows, set shaders to Medium, and Post-Processing to Off/Medium just to get 3D to work. Not to mention that all particle effects (bullets, explosions) were all in 2D, which sabotaged 3D-immersive value.

Ya, I play and it is sweet. It's fun. Online is hard as hell though. *SNIPPED*
That's weird! My roommate plays better in 2D online, but I play better in 3D online. I think the more Depth Amount for some users gives them cross-eyed vision so they end up seeing "double crosshairs / double red dot". I know that if I play ANY game for too long in Stereo 3D (i.e. about 3 hours) then I get seriously screwed up eyes. Maybe each player has a different eye adaptation base?

I agree. The 3d is done beautifully in this game. As far as FPS is concerned this should set the example in 3d gaming.*SNIP*
Hopefully other developers will follow suit. As much as I like DICE's commitment to gameplay value (eh, depending on the day, even Bad Company 2 has some consolitis to it, and Mirror's Edge was a revolutionary IP of its kind) I didn't like how it took DICE almost a year to cooperate with NVIDIA on releasing code to enable proper 3D in the game. Hopefully, DICE's Battlefield 3 will have flawless (or at least "above average") Stereo-3D support out of the box. Crysis 2 has raised my standard on how 3D games should be presented to the gamer.

It also makes me wonder if CryTek was so focused on polishing out the Stereo 3D support for this game that they slacked in the other departments, namely PC gaming styles that have disappeared between Crysis 1/Warhead/Wars and Crysis 2 (no more large FOV, smaller weapon on screen, smaller HUD, etc etc).

I like the 3D, but the messed up glows and halos is very distracting, making it almost unplayable for me.

One of my friends reported having the same problem, but for some reason, I don't? The weird thing is that we both have the same monitor and 3D VISION kit. What are your specs and driver versions?

Mine:
ACER GD235HZ
GTX 480
ZALMAN VF3000F cooler for GTX 480
latest NVIDIA 3D driver
latest NVIDIA beta display driver

yes I just finished sp in 3D on 1920 x 1200 resolution and it was awesome;
It was my first complete campaign in 3d for any game and it really did work well.

mp, however, I find very difficult to compete in 3D, perhaps I just need more practice but I do find it harder to get kills.

cheers :)

Congratulations on beating sp in 3D! It really felt good here too. And I can't believe the menus and even loading screens/movies are in 3D too! The instant I loaded up 3D on the main menu alone, I was like "Whoa. I'm probably in for a ride." The campaign, like for you, failed to disappoint in 3D ;)

Yeah maybe. I grew up reading those old comic books that came with the blue and red colored glasses. Us grumbly old folk might have more trained eyes for 3D viewing. Or, maybe our eyes are so messed up seeing cross-eyed that it's better for us to game in 3D now lol.

You should! I don't know any UK vendors, but here in the states, eBay always has bids that end low for the 3D VISION kit.

Sounds pretty bad ass. Makes me want to try it out. I have everything, just never bothered.

Yes I played at 1920x1080 on Extreme in 3D. Average frames are 80-110. I think it will be better though in with DX11.
