Anyone play with higher fov than 80?

Post » Mon Nov 28, 2011 7:45 pm

Anyone?

I must say, i tried 120 with feline today.
Yeah, it was beasty.

Can we call it hack, or not? If we can call - i will not use it.
I changed the fov value through ArtMoney software, not via autoexec.cfg.

I think it's a grey area. It's certainly not a hack, not even a glitch but coming close to being an exploit. I use a FOV of 65 which is not standard and Crytek have coded in a range (50 - 80 I think) which suits those who want less of a console look on their game. 120 is pushing it though.

Many people have found that after playing with that awesome FOV their accuracy was significantly better with a lower number. For me, too, its a trade-off: not at all exploit-like..

Also, when people watch kill-cams from you it will look as though you are speed-hacking, so be ready for that.

I was accused for speedhack because of FoV=80 xD
I think 80 is enough, you don't want to have insect view, just to feel little bit faster...
If my fov is default, I feel too slow, like I'm sprinting in and still walking, so I drain too much energy, but that might be my bad habit.
anyway, I thought Crytek locked FoV to maximum of 80 in 1.8 patch :/ hmm

Well, the method of attaining FOV=120 would determine whether it was an exploit, wouldn't it.

For example typing in sys_ReleaseFOV=1, cl_fov=120 is quite a bit different than editing a PAK file or running SUPERFOV.EXE

Nope - in this case there is no difference - we have a result.

I tried using a FoV of 80 but then I kept on running into things because it felt too fast and my aim was all over the place

you can easily try a new fov setting by using this tool: https://secure.gamesas.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=34056

I changed the fov value through software, not via autoexec.cfg.

The program you are using works by injecting values into a running game. Regardless of what the authors claim in their promotional material, this is absolutely, without question cheating. One of punkbusters primary technologies is to detect altered memory images, as it is the essence of most simple (yet powerful) hacks.

Giving yourself an advantage (no matter how gentle) in multiplayer by using third party software is cheating, and, responsive to the thread title, the only people playing with higher fov than 80 are using hacking software.

I encourage you to step away from the dark side now, before its too late. ;)

EDIT: jeez, I gotta learn to lighten up. gg

I've used 80FOV for monthssssssssss, but today I put it back to default. I think it's 50?

Game feels so slow, but it spices things up a bit playing it like its a different game again. xD
