I don't have one, but in my opinion they are not worth the $$$. I could build a better machine for the same price

Agree, I don't see the point. Can we upgrade console/PCs at all? Put better graphics cards in them and stuff like this, like we can with an actual desktop tower?

You could buy the Alienware Alpha if you have never purchased a gaming PC before. It will guide you sort off, into what's possible in the PC gaming world, and maybe push you into getting more involved on that matter.

Also i thing it will not take very long, before you start expressing interest on building your own PC, or at least upgrade the system you just picked up.

Of course, you can always build your own PC for not much more, and maybe get better performance out of it.

However, it wouldn't be that compact and stylish, or come with the support that a company like Alienware (DELL) provides.

So, not quite a desktop PC and not quite a console, the Alienware Alpha tries to tend between of those two.

So, as a verdict i would say, it's priced OK for a set it and forget it steam based gaming "console", but i thing - building your own gaming RIG will always be more cost effective.

Yeah, the Steam Machines aren't really targeted at the "meh, I can build better" crowd, any more than consoles are.

Nope, as the GPU concerns. It's a special custom made Nvidia GeForce GTX 860M, only for the Alienware alpha, that comes with a sophisticated designed cooler. (to fit in that tiny little case)

Except that, you can change everything else - but i wouldn't recommend it, as the end-price will go much higher, and the whole project will loss his cause of existence.

That's true, especially if you wanna change the processor, with an i7 for example.
