and Minutemen MQ? no doing any other factions quests? did you build up every settlement to max?

I have not touched much of the settlment gameplay so far, but I plan to soon. Although ideally I don't want to get fully committed to it until after all of the dlc is released.
I didn`t build all settlement to max... but they are all at happiness 80-85.
It`s not easy without mod because you do run out of crucial ingredients, namely wood, copper.. and oil
Eh I tried it but got bored. My next playthrough will likely be close to this again. Just do the bare minimum to get the BoS in the wasteland, then play with settlements. Until I feel like exploring the wasteland. I want the construction kit to be out, so I can adjust what level critters spawn at, what gear they can have, and increase number of spawns, before next run through.
You can't. You must contact one other faction. No MM is smart enough to do what you have to do to find your son. I hope I did not drop any spoilers in that.
This is my play through... 200+hours, still haven't gone to Diamond City.... I never gets to do anything important, and too fearful of fallen behind the settlement dev... that I dare not go for any other Factions, fear that my slav...Settlers not being productive enough.... Yeah... There it is.. the up side though... I am so filthy rich, that my new currency is shipments of water/food... (if you don't want to mod, and consider modding "cheating") you can built a box next to every work shop (I recommend lunch box; the blue one), to store food/water that your settlement produces, and then use strong back lvl4 to fast travel to buy/sell... Creepy Robot lady is just one FastTravel and a few slow steps away... she sells the best guns... AND COPPER! yeah... to describe it fast:
-You don't get to do ANY STORY, because you are bombarded with MASSIVE Radiant quests, you will HATE Radio Freedom and Preston...
+you are HELLA RICH, and you will have more opportunities to get scraps, and Legendary items... (i am reaching 3Mil right now... but still have not set foot in diamond city... )
*I am hoping the settlement equiping could have an option to dump items for auto distribute to settlers...
*I wish to have option to hire/assemble a task force to share my radiant/defense/Preston'sGarbageQuests/Radio"LostMyFreedom".. where I just need to replenish the team, upgrade their weapons, and keep them operational... instead trying to babysit ALL MY 20+ SETTLEMENTS!
Guess I am doing something wrong since on the Xbox One, One of my characters never left Sanctuary and was just building the community. Character died in a raid so I am going to start another one playing that way, since it is fun. I would never finish the story but I do not play Bethesda games to do the main quest anyway.
I am not following you. The OP asked about the MM MQ not can you live in Sanctuary forever.
I'm over 300 hrs now on my first character, and have only officially joined the minutemen. I primarily do the quests for settlements and build them up, but that can be challenging from the lack of some resources. I have been to Diamond City, but haven't gone after Nick V. yet. I did the first couple BOS quests to help them, but when Paladin Danse (I think that's his name) asked me to join and said something to the effect: "...you'll be taking orders from me, and your days of freelancing are over...", I declined to join because my character is not into taking orders from a militarized tin can, and freelancing is my life. Haven't found any other factions yet that I'd want to join. Maybe I'll have to at some point, but I'm putting it off as long as possible.
I missed the MM MQ part.
I think I might give that a Try, I think it might be possible but then again I never got that far in the MQ. The farthest I got was DC and finding about Nick. Since I do not play these games for the MQ.
The MM helped me gain access to where I need to go to.
good lord no, I mean if you are into that kind of thing that's cool. I just really didn't get into the settlement thing, mostly cause it's a side distraction that really doesn't affect gameplay at all. I usually pick one settlement area in a playthrough and build on it but that's about it, no true point to painstakingly building on them all except for personal satisfaction...which I do not get from settlement building, rather wait for official mod support and the eventuality that someone will add a caddy to this game to cruise around in.
Yeah, kind of. It's basically what my wasteland knight-errant is doing, although I'm also doing the Brotherhood of Steel questline up to a point and then beating the game as the Minutemen on good terms with the Brotherhood. But my longterm goal is to eventually unite every settlement with a supply line and artillery, and turn at least half of them into full-fledged communities that have every service and crafting station - as well as actually looking like something Bethesda would have put in the game themselves, instead of an unorganized mess.
It's a slow process, and it's better to focus on a few locations to build up as full settlements instead of turning every backwood podunk into a full-fledged settlement populated with over a dozen settlers... some places, like Somerville Place or Tenpines Bluff, lend themselves more to just being small homesteads with a few settlers compared to places like the Slog or Starlight Drive-In that make really good potential communities.
My advice: shipments are your friend, and you should design the settlements in such a way to make as many caps as possible.
It also requires Railroad to read the Courser Chip, nobody else can do that part.
i made a new character to minimize my settlements. i had them all built up last time, and when i quicksaved, it took almost a full minute. so from now on, if there aren't already ppl there, i'm not going to have any there. spartan style barracks is all i'm building for them, and only if i can't use pre-existing structures.
Can't you do a pure
You always have to take the Courser Chip to the Railroad, but you aren't actually joining them or doing any work for them by doing that - just finding them and giving them the chip in exchange for the data.
Half-true. You can annihilate the RR and decode the chip yourself using their equipment.
So, you DO have to go to the RR, but you don't need THEM, just their stuff.
That is correct. You need to find them, but you don't need them.
Time for this mandatory video explaining what to do:
