determines how closely you zoom into an NPC's face during conversation? i played with that distance doubled on a previous computer, and it was a huge improvement.

but now i can't find it anywhere >.> i've ctrl+f'ed my .ini file for distance, npc, conversation, and interaction. i've googled for over an hour. can't find which setting it is :(

Do you remember where you had found the info first?

Find fDlgFocus in Oblivion.ini and change it. Higher is less zoom.

Combine the new ini setting with http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=14669 (which mentions the setting) and you're getting somewhere. I prefer a higher distance setting than that recommended by Talk... , but then my avatar is a Nord. Shorter races might well be satisfied with the default recommendation.

This was the very first change I made to Oblivion, on March 20, 2006. I hated dialog zoom in Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines, so I was prepared to change it the instant I saw a pre-release video showing it in action. I have mine set to 11.0000. I play in 3rd-person so this number, I have found, is the least jarring for me.

I agree, increasing that distance from its default of 2.1 is simple and better. I'm running at about 8 and happy with it.
