Personally, I think the category of medium armor is kind of meaningless. I think there should be heavy armors that are a little lighter and less protective than other heavy armors and light armors that are heavier and tougher than other light armors, as well as armors that are both relatively light and strong for each category. There should be more variation within the armor classes instead of just a straight progression from light and weak to heavy and strong like Oblivion.

It does make sense though to have light and heavy armor governed by different skills, as the use of either one would require a different skill set. With light armor, you retain a good bit of your mobility, so you would focus on trying to angle your body a certain way so that the relatively weaker armor can deflect the blow rather than just absorbing. On the other hand, heavy armor is strong enough that deflection isn't as vital, but it would also make moving much more difficult, so you would have to learn to move within the limits imposed by the armor.

Personally, what I think would make the most sense is to have two skills, one called heavy armor, and the other called dodge or something similar. Heavy armor should have certain penalties in attack speed, mobility etc. which the heavy armor skill would reduce as it increases, as well as somewhat increasing your damage resistance, since being more used to moving in the armor would allow you to absorb blows more effectively. Dodge should more drastically reduce the damage you take both while wearing light armor and while unarmored, since light armor doesn't impair your agility that much, so the practice you get while wearing armor should also help you dodge blows while unarmored and vice versa.

They need to bring back the medium armor in my opinion. Also, bring back the Chitin and Dreugh armor!

All 3, especially seeing as Nords were born to wear Medium.

Just implement it a little better (i.e. have more than 3 sets :P)

I don't see how anyone would want to further simplify the armor skill in the Elder Scrolls series. Get rid of armor skills altogether? I already own Fable, thank you, I dont't need another copy.

It's been said before me, but yeah, having 4 different armor skills makes sense, as using heavy armor would be drastically different than wearing light armor, or no armor at. Depending on the type of armor, one must learn to walk, run and fight in totally different ways, not to mention that one must take hits using different meathods depending on the armor type. If a person trained in heavy armor their whole life then put on some light leather armor, odds are that they would be stumbling along while overcompensating every movement, being used to many, many more pounds of protection. Likewise, a light armor specialist would have a rough time trying to fight in a full set of steel.

Just train your stats. If you find a cool piece of armor, but aren't skilled at it, don't complain, work for it. It should feel like you deserve to wear it.

Taking complexity out of the Elder Scrolls will end up making it another Fable, which is very upsetting, as TES did it first, and did it better.

Yes, the more options the better, though I never really used the medium armors much.

I would like if they bring medium armor back but this is far from being my main concern about the game. im more worried about spears and crossbows and stuff that just disapeared instead of being put in a whole new category

Like most of us, I want all three armor classes back. Of course!

I also want...
Long blade AND Short blade
Axe AND Blunt
Throwing weapons for Marksman

basically, all the stuff from Morrowind that got left out of Oblivion.

Pretty much this tbh, I want all 4 back because all 4 were useful to some extent and really did make sense.
