Of course I'd love to know, being British and all. However, I'd prefer Fallout to keep to its canon and stay in the USA.

It would make an interesting spinoff to the series to show off Europe. Even a series of spinoffs - different parts for different games. Not happening though.

In a cold war nuclear scenario, Finland would be nuked by both parties because:
1) Americans thought that Finland was too pro-Soviet to be trustworthy. Some CIA archives revealed that USA was going to nuke Finland 22 times, 5 times of which our capital.
2) Soviet Union.. Well, I'd not count on their friendship with a western democracy with close relations to the West. Plus, Finland would be too easy for the enemy use as a bridgehead like it was used in WW2.

And even if USSR wasn't involved in the war.. Finland would have pretty low chances in either case. This country has almost no agriculture, and that few could support only a few hundred thousand people at max so in nuclear scenario agriculture would be impossible thus unless we rely on cannibalism, we'd have to relocate to Sweden or Estonia.
Not a good thing, not at all.

Thus, at least Fallout: New Finland would be the most boring video game made. Unless there were 10 feet tall Radwolves.

I'm not American, but I don't want to see Fallout go outside of the US because it wouldn't really be Fallout*.

*In my opinion.

I don't know... It could provoke some interesting ideas if given some thought.

Agreed. The main series should remain in US.

I've been working on a mod which is set in post-nuclear Finland, though. Well, technically Russia, but Finns will play a major role in it. I can't get waters work properly, though, so it has remained a personal-use mod but it's cool.

And I third the opinion that Fallout should never, ever leave North America. Canada would be fun, though.

Fallout is fallout because its about a post apocalyptic world , Not America ( of which Americans think is the only country )

Fallout would be perfect if set in England, not because its my home country - but because it would have the perfect atmosphere. There would be more variety, all American buildings and the way its structured is all the same. Wembley could be a major settlement for the Enclave or BoS. And their are so many more landmarks than just tall pointy buildings and a giant hall. Also our houses arnt made out of wood - so there would be more intact. haha.

There are plenty of post-apocalyptic games out there. What sets the Fallout series apart from them is the American culture in them, ie, the whole retro 50's feel.

Also, why would the Enclave be in England? They are the remnants of the US government, and they are restoring America. And, how could the BOS be in England? They too are American.

Bold remark there.

But so far the series has been in America. Mainly only two different regions really. The west coast and the capitol wastes. Which leaves an entire nation to have games based in. Would a spinnoff into a different nation be interesting? Most likely. But let's not just go to it because "ooo different nation. That means everything is gonna be different!"

Edit: I also agree with FALLOUTFTW.

I've been to London so many times I'd hate to play a game based there, unless it was nuked beyond recognition :P

Yes but change is always good, usually not welcomed - but good. Also there are more people in the world than just americans.

Exactly. Look, I love my home country England, but Fallout would need completely new lore and canon if it was set there.

And FALLOUT: you said in your last post you're not American. I thought you were. What are you?

Yes, I know. But, what makes the Fallout series so special is the whole 50's American culture, and the atmosphere that it brings. Without it, you just have another generic post-apocalyptic game.

And, remember, this is just my opinion.

Half Mexican, half Spaniard. I wasn't born in the US, but I am currently living there. I do consider myself an American, just not American born.

Yeah, I agree, too. As you said, the 50s culture is the theme of Fallout and would be wrong any other way.

Basis of fallout: retro futuristic post apocalyptic world based on what americans thought would be the future. I'll agree change can be good, but do you want bethesda to make an attempt and fail at setting a game in a different country based on what their views of the future would've been?

Also, you can stop with the bold remarks on americans. Not all of us are so closed minded.

i wouldnt mind it taking place somewhere else. i think somewhere in canada would be interesting. somewhere like toronto, alberta, or ontario. or another possibility is to set the game in michigan and the map could extend to canada. or it could take place in my state of texas. theres a pretty good variation here where all the big cities are...

I... beg your pardon?

Anyway. Moving on, I agree that future Fallout games should, for the most part, remain in America- because, as has been previously stated (many times), Fallout's atmosphere comes from the 1950s American 'style'- it would, indeed, feel just like another post-Apocalyptic game otherwise.
Although, a trip to another country or two might be cool.
As stated above, Canada would kick ass.
I'd at least like to hear about how things are going in the rest of the world, though.
I wanted to ask Dukov what it's like over in good old Russia, but there was no dialogue option. ;3;
Ditto Moriarty, Tenpenny, and Dad, all of whom clearly are Not From Here.

(well except for maybe Tenpenny, who is as nutty as a... a thing with lots of nuts, and could just be putting that accent on.)

EDIT:
1) Americans thought that Finland was too pro-Soviet to be trustworthy. Some CIA archives revealed that USA was going to nuke Finland 22 times, 5 times of which our capital.

It would be interesting to see how the rest of the world turned out but I wouldn't want a full game set there. Perhaps if it was a simulation like O:A or maybe a DLC, but I love the patriotic American themes they've got going on and I'd like it to stay that way. After all, the Fallout veterans even said; "Fallout is a game for Americans, by Americans". :P

I know I'm British, but still...XD
