Because I did not like how they put the fallout one in. IT is hard. That is not the elder scrolls way.

The Elder Scrolls way I remember is manually equipping a lockpick and attacking the door.

Don't ask.

The oblivion method is terrible and i hope it stays dead and gone. It was too tedious and all most people did was spam the auto attempt.

Lockpicking in Oblivion and Skyrim are both crap. Oblivion at least had the sense of mind to add an Auto-Attempt button, but both systems relied too little on character skill (even low-level characters can easily open master locks if you're practiced with the mini-game).

Skyrim/Fallout's method is closer to lockpicking in real life.

In my arrogant opinion, the BEST system for TES to use would be an adjusted version of the lockpicking from

I mean it. Unless you've played the game, you probably won't believe me.

MAFIA 2.

It uses tumblers, like Oblivion.
It's real-time, like Morrowind.
All you need to do is... make it so that either the pin control increases with skill, OR the size of the sweet spot increases.

Presto. Better lockpicking for all!

I love Skyrim's system, but in future TES games I'd like to see it improved on. Make the 'margin' in which the lock can be turned to 'open' almost impossible to find on Master locks, and then increase that margin as your lock picking skill increases and perks are taken.

I agree with Solitudian. I prefer the Skyrim system but I think it could be improved upon.

I did not like lockpicking in either Morrowind or Oblivion and rarely picked locks in either game. I took to Skyrim's system right away, from the very first lock I picked in Helgen.
