Anyone with a gaming PC getting it for console and not PC?

Post » Fri Sep 16, 2011 1:57 am

Why would anyone do this? I could understand if it was a multiplayer game and all of your friends played on a console, but this is a single player game. You would be losing mods, better graphics, better loading times, etc. and getting absolutely nothing in return.

I can answer this with my own personal opinion.
The few mods I've tried were fairly interesting, but I prefer a game the way the developer makes it. Not the way others want it. If the game isn't good enough to play through in it's base form, then why buy it in the first place? I would rather enjoy it how it is, then have to mod it to enjoy it. :\
Secondly, my PC is in my living room, my 3D-HD TV is in my bedroom (I rent an upstairs apartment). I don't want to drag my PC in here just to play Skyrim, when I can easily play it on my Xbox with a comfy controller. :P
And finally, there's not gonna be a major difference between the platforms (apart from PC mods). The graphics will be tweaked up from 360 on, but the game itself is the same. Plus I can always sell Skyrim sometime in the future, if i absolutely need to.

Just my own personal opinion. ^_^

I have a PC way over the recommended but it looks like I'll still get it for my 360, just a few recent changes that kind of ticked me off,
I'd rather just get it on consoles for better convenience.

I don't want to deal with that steam drm, it's caused me so many problems in the past, and I want that timed exclusive DLC, I'll feel like I'll have an incomplete game if I don't have it,
that I'm limiting myself by not getting the full experience right away.

Thanks for explaining your opinion politely. Looking at my previous post I think I came across a bit rude. I can definitely see where you're coming from.

I agree with that. I only ended up modding Oblivion after I got bored with the base game, and even then I was still bored with it.

Yay for being OCD about gaming! :P At least I'm not the only one.

I'd love to be able to play Skyrim on PC, but sadly lack of a decent computer and funds for a new one/upgraded parts are lacking.

No problem. In the end, it just comes down to everyone's personal preference. Not which platform is better.

Way more then just OCD, steams given me huge problems that prevent me from playing some of my PC games entirely, I don't want that, I don't want to buy a game with a chance I can't play it, if I get it for consoles then I feel like I'm getting the sure thing that I know will work.

Yes it would of been nice if we had a choice between using Steam or not, but I'm getting it on 360 and PC so if for some reason Steam acts like a jerk I can always just play it there eventhough it would make me sad still.

I don't know.....but I'm sure there are some out there who would rather get it on conosle..

Don't know why. Any modern computer should play it unless it comes with an integrated graphics card. Now those PCs aren't good for anything except checking e-mail.

Is this serious?

Hell no! My PS3 lagged playing Oblivion and FO3, I'd hate to think how it would cope with Skyrim. I'll definitely be getting it for my PC.

The ignorant person claiming mods are petty and useless hasn't been looking hard enough. You can easily find large scale mods, adding extra factions, branching quest lines, new fully fleshed out cities, and there's even some entirely new province mods adding numerous cities, monsters, quests, houses, and entirely different environments.

Just built the pc in the sig and I sure won′t get it for consoles, even though my console games library is 70-80+, and I have both consoles, and I have a nice comfy sofa and a nice HDTV.

The moment I tried my new 24" Full HD LED, I surrendered unto him. :flamethrower:

Truth is I′m a graphics [censored].

I might get it for xbox first. GAME pretty much always get pre-ordered games to me the day before release so if I got it for PC I would have to wait for it unlock on Steam.

I always play a lot of vanilla before modding games so I'll probably pick up the PC version on the Steam Christmas sale (or even if it's not on sale), as hopefully most of the big patches will have been rolled out.

What do you mean by "lagged"? Aren't consoles "famous" for their steady framerates?

No they lag well at least mine do, it might be because I have the first ones that came out well I've had my 360 fixed 5 times but its still an old model. MY ps3 works fine on FO3 and Oblivion though but it lags on NV.

And those lags are usual? I mean, there are a lot of people who experiment them?

If yes....well, I don't know what to think anyways. Just one more reason to thrash them and buy a decent PC :P

Right here. I'm getting it on 360 because I want to recline and play the game with a controller.

First of all,not all PC's are the same and i've seen awful lag on some of them.
It makes me laugh ,that PC users only mention the few good things and not the bad side. A PC can give you many, many more issues than a console could.
PC gaming isn't all a bed of roses....i've been there and done it.

Trying to convince people to go to PC is a desperate ploy, because consoles have taken over. People like in-expensive things, ease of use etc. Consoles have done great things for the gaming industry in general. Despite how old the consoles are, they are still selling like hotcakes, there is a happy medium with them. They are only going to get stronger whether we like it or not,and even more so when the next Gen arrives. Games companies wouldn't be spending half the money they do on games if it weren't for consoles.

PC gaming can be very rewarding, but frustrating at the same time. It's not everyone's cup of tea.

Yeah that is the downside to PC gaming, some people aren't going to want to invest so much time if things go wrong and for them console gaming would be better.

I mean at the end of the day we all just want to play the damn game, not sit there for hours trying to fix ctds or figure out why the game won't start.

I was toying with the idea. Then I realized, if I did that, I'd not really enjoy the game as much. I'm a control freak with gaming, between my Nostromo and Naga, I have 22 buttons for my thumbs alone. Also just upgraded my graphics card. Additionally, I can probably preload the game on Steam. I start a 4 day weekend 11/11/11, so I want to get it at midnight, without having to go to a midnight release.

Haha, I also have a 4 day weekend on those dates.

I have been saving for a rig for a while, and was planning to have it ready for Skyrim, but I've now decided against it. I already own a 360 and it just makes sense for me to just buy it for that, much cheaper and easier, I've just started uni so want to save the money for other purposes, rather than blowing it on a machine that just has better graphics (I don't even think the PC graphics will be THAT superior) and mods. You buy the game for what, £40 then buy a PC for £1000, just for better graphics and mods, they are just bonuses really, and I do not feel like paying 25 times the base price of the game for some decent bonuses.

Oh and deep down inside I just want to pop the game into my 360 and play it, sitting on my couch with a controller (YES I know you can do that with a PC but c'mon.)
