Anyone with a gaming PC getting it for console and not PC?

I get what you're saying but I think the batmobile would just scare the crap out of most people lol

Just name me someone who WOULDN'T want ride the Batmobile. Even joker would want in, if only to plant a bomb.

Well, my girlfriend wouldn't want to ride in a "bat" mobile. I guess because she belongs to a different age group. But I do understand your anology, it's a good one.

Some people already have an Xbox and don't have an expensive PC. The main reason to go on PC would be mods.

It's like driving a Toyota with the Batmobile in the garage. Sure, it gets you from point A to B, but you don't get to use the cool toys and pick up significantly less chicks.

Fuel consumption, parking, maintenance, insurance. A lot of people with nice cars keep it in the garage most of the time :)

Besides the Batmobile is hideous! Although I wouldn't mind Nolan's tumbler for the lovely V8 noise and coolness factor.

I still don't really understand the draw of mods. Maybe I'm missing the point. But the two games I attached the most mods too were Baldur's Gate 2 and KOTOR and in both instances, though I did enjoy some aspects (having like a billion spells to play with in BG2 was pretty entertaining) , for the most part I spent more time just messing around with installing, uninstalling, and reinstalling various mods, and just randomly trying out all the new features and mechanics they offered, but not really playing the game. Like going from a keyboard with 108 keys to one with 1008 keys. It was cool to see all the new options and try some of them out, but it ends up...noisy, cluttered, inefficient and redundant, imo.

Some of the more subtle mods (like one for KOTOR that simply started you as a Jedi so you had early access to basic force powers, which made more sense with bastilla always talking about how you must be strong in the force to have been able to help her) are nice, but ultimately unnecessary. Everyone here talking about how modders are going to "fix" this or thatched well I guess they'll be happy. But I doubt I'll care enough about any of the little weirdnesses of this game to want to start DLing mods.

I'm actually not sure if I'll get it on PC or 360. Despite what certain people say, the only difference worth mentioning is the controls, the editor, the ability to play it on other peoples xboxs and the fact that it'll be swamped with millions of poorly made mods. If anyone has some genuine advice (not biased flag flying) I'm all ears.

You can choose NOT to install poorly made mods. In general the number of endorsemants a mod gets is a good gauge.

Yeah see I've checked out some of the popular modding sites for Oblivion and most of the highest rated stuff was pretty hairs and overpowered weapons. They seem to be littered with those silly anime girl/boy/can't tell fans. I'm not interested in mods, more the editor.

Check out some Morrowind mods, it will take you a while to pick your jaw up :) The nexus sites aren't a good representation of what modding brings though, the most "endorsed" files are usually weird stuff like revealing outfits and anime.

I have a decent PC, and a laptop that could run it, but instead i'm getting an HDTV, and a 360 and gonna play Skyrim on that. Mainly cause I don't care about mods, I hate gaming on a keyboard and mouse, and my TV will be much larger than my monitor. I know i could play on PC with a controller and hook it up to a TV, but I'd rather not go through the hassle to do it, then undo it every time i'm done playing the game.. Also being force to install Steam really bothers me, and i like have a case and a disc for my money.

I'm actually getting it for both with the idea of passing my PS3 on to someone one day. I just read a tweet by Pete that he watched Todd playing for a while today and didn't realize he was on PS3. That made me feel good. I'll mostly be using my PC though.

:tes:

Wow that is the first time I have heard the word Todd or Pete without Xbox360 being mentioned soon abouts ! Good too see that they are serious about the PS3 version too!

To answer your question though, I just bought a ROG Gaming laptop, and Asus G74 and although I am assured that I should be able to play Skyrim on High and in 1920X1080 I am still getting it for the PS3 first! Why you may ask? Well I am glad you did, you see although I come from a Heavy PC background, gaming all the way back to 8088's yes thats right you can google it - very early PC with a CGA monitor (4 colors), I am having so much fun gaming from my comfy couch in a nice warm room and on a 52 inch Sony Bravia FullHD- LCD screen with surround sound! I tend to buy and play FPS's on the laptop because of the mouse/keyboard combo, but big games like Skyrim I love to be able to lay back in comfort and sink hours into it especially since it is Single Player only I don't need to 'twitch shoot'.

Also if you stare at a PC screen at work lots of people prefer not to after work, even Pete mentioned this in one of this interviews, that he prefers to sit back and game on his console. Its not to say I won't get Skyrim for my Laptop down the track of course I will but only after the GOTY version arrives and when the better mods start to arrive, it will take time for this to happen ! I think FO3 and NV look sensational on my TV and I had no problems with blurry textures etc, so I can only dream what Bethesda have done with the talented artists working on Skyrim!

Yes I know I can plug my Laptop into my TV, it has HDMI, but there is no room for this, I have no table to put it on and I don't have a wireless keyboard or mouse... plus I would be moving it around all the time because I have a 2 year old daughter, anyone with kids will know why :)

Must be a different site than the one I use. TESnexus top 100 is full of some of the best mods that do things like make the UI better, add more weather systems, add more weapons/armor/spells and monsters, make the game more difficult, make it darker when it should be darker, add more realistic bows, add more gore to the game....... I could keep going on but I think you get the point.

People who say there are no good mods don't look very hard. Some of the modders in the TES community are extremely talented, and don't just create anime or nvde mods.

You are not looking hard enough.

1) Deadly reflex - Dismemberment, kicking, dodge, sneak kills, throwing weapons.
2) Midas Magic - Unique spells and spell balancing.
3) Natural Environments - Graphic improvement.
4) Keychain - Keychain.
5) Oscuros Oblivion Overhaul - Remove creature scaling, bug fix, game balance, living economy, new equipment, new factions.
6) Servant of Dawn - New faction and quests.
7) Shadowcrest Vineyard - Player home, item sorting and quests.
8) LTD Vampire Overhaul - Better vampire.
9) Marts Monster Mod - More spawn, new monsters, removes level scaling.
10)And the most important one, even if nothing else
DarnifiedUI - Customize HUD.

The PC definitely. The xbox might be getting the dlc a bit early but once its all out the pc will have the dlc as well, in addition to mods, better graphics, custom controls, and a vastly superior (and more comfortable) control setup. Having your hand spaced naturally at keyboard and a mouse will always feel so much better then having them squished together like you are handcuffed throughout all your hours of game time.

I was toying with the idea. Then I realized, if I did that, I'd not really enjoy the game as much. I'm a control freak with gaming, between my Nostromo and Naga, I have 22 buttons for my thumbs alone. Also just upgraded my graphics card. Additionally, I can probably preload the game on Steam. I start a 4 day weekend 11/11/11, so I want to get it at midnight, without having to go to a midnight release.

I doubt they'll do a preload. You'll pretty much have the game.. you'll have all of the data files to look at and dissect.. eh idk I just don' think they'll have one.

Also might get it for console depending on the specs needed. Believe me though, if my system can handle it on high settings, or at least 360 comparable settings, I'm getting it on pc. If it's not optimized for my system that can play many other current gen games BETTER than the 360, then whatevs, I'll get it for console.

Getting it for PC. Unless yours is not powerful enough, or you're incredibly lazy not to connect it to your TV and a gamepad (if you want to play like it, myself, I prefer the traditional way), there's really no sense on getting it for console.

I don't see whats lazy about not wanting to hook up your computer to your TV just too play a game, especially when you can just put a disc in your console to do the same thing.

I have a strong PC and I love mods, so the PC Version would be my first choice but unfortunately it has DRM
Since I like to "own" my games without being totally dependent on a DRM platform operator I'll buy the PS3 Version instead.
Not really happy about the situation
