Open New Vegas if you have it from steam, load any file, open the pip-boy and try to bind an item to a hotkey. I instantly crash to desktop, new problem, started yesterday, I reinstalled and did nothing. Please just want one other person to help

I did a re-bind yesterday. I don't think a patch has been out since then (has it?) And I'm not crashing. Is it crashing for every item you equip to any slot or just a particular item to a particular slot?

Sadly every item, to every slot. It was working fine on Tuesday, i loaded it up wednesday, and I "might" have been able to do it a few times but within an hour it has become an auto CTD with the Fallout New Vegas has stopped working error message.

I still have 2 weps bound but I don't want to have to play without any, and if its only me it means Beth probably wont help.

Get to the next staging point in a quest and, once complete, save, and retry mapping. Just a little trial an error experiment.

I'll try that once it installs again, I uninstalled again to check if Steam was clearing the files and it was so I wasted my time. You may be on to something since I don't think I've done a quest since the issue started. Thanks for your help.
