Anything missing for Replay?

Post » Wed Dec 22, 2010 6:48 am

Hello,

I'm replaying Fallout 3 again after a long time out and I am wanting to mod it up a bit, I'd like to know what people think I should use and also if there are any problems with my current set up.

I've been looking around and I've picked out the following as my new experience:

Gameplay:
Unofficial Fallout 3 Patch + DLC's
FWE 5.04
EVE 0.96 + Updates
Weapon Mod Kits

Graphics:
NMCs Combined Texture Pack
Hi-Res Historical Documents
Hi-Res Skill Books
Hi-Res Weapon Textures
Hi-Res Clothing Textures
Enhanced Blood Textures
Subtle Sunglare FX
Fellout
Project Beauty
DarnUI + FWE Update

Audio:
GNR More where that came from (Just going to download)

FOIP:
Eve and FWE
Projecy Beauty and FWE
Weapon Mod Kits and FWE

Misc:
Re-animation Project
RTS New Wave (Will not install until I've completed the game)
DC Interiors Combo
FOMM
FOEdit (I don't quite understand this, I just create a Merge Patch and run FO3MasterUpdate)
BOSS

So is there anything missing that will really improve my experience, or will any of these cause a problem?

I use BOSS, FOMM and FOEdit, even though I don't quite understand FOEdit.

I recommend http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=3211 (don't forget the FOIP patches).

If you want a DLC retex, go to http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=3793 and get the dlc retextures.

I also recommend http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=13361. It is like WMK for PA!

And don't forget to make a new Merged Patch anytime you change your .esp's.

Thanks for that, I'll check them out. I've looked at MMM's work for Oblivion and even though it was well made it felt like there was an enemy every ten steps and I often enjoy a slower paced game. Is it the same for Fallout 3? Hmm saying that though I am after a different experience from vanilla Fallout so I should at least try it.

Will the Powered Power Armor interfere with FWE's effects to gameplay? I think that FWE has balanced a lot of the combat (weapon damage and armor resistance) so I'm concered about installing any new weapons or armors with FWE that doesn't have FOIP or similar.

Will the PA interfere with fwd'e effects?

No there is a FWE patch in the mods download section. Plus it works with power armor from any mod!

...it felt like there was an enemy every ten steps and I couldn't enjoy the scenery.

You can chose how many enemy's spawn in each spawn-point.
And the only esps you need from the MMM file are
Mart's Mutant Mod.esmMart's Mutant Mod.espMart's Mutant Mod - DLC Anchorage.espMart's Mutant Mod - DLC The Pitt.espMart's Mutant Mod - DLC Broken Steel.espMart's Mutant Mod - DLC Point Lookout.espMart's Mutant Mod - DLC Zeta.esp

(the rest of the options are in the FWE menu)

EDIT: Another great mod (that is compatible with everything in your load order) is http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=13690

Does the street lighting and weather mods create a problem with Fellout or are there work arounds?

If you load the rain before fellout, fellout will automatically control when it rains, if you use FWE alternate start you will probably need to use the http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=12800 to get the rain to work. The street light has no issues with fellout and actually looks great with fellout's darker nights. Speaking of darker nights you may want to use this mod http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=12841. FWE adds night vision to power armor, but until you get some you will really need some kind of night vision. The night vision is expensive and also uses energy cells so it works well with FWE.

Some others I thought of http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=11283
http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=6104
http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=3212 - balanced perks that are all useful
http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=712 and http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=1610
http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=6338 - has FWE patch
http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=9497 - in case you want to live life as a raider and the quest http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=12278 that goes along with it
http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=11257, http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2446, http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=11312, http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=11025, http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=3729, http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=11750 - all "must have" for me

There are others I use but they are on Mez's page.

Thanks, the Night Vision goggles sound great and the reboot will come in handy.
