Apart from selling stuff, and arena, are there any other way

Post » Thu Sep 03, 2009 7:45 am

I want to start a new roleplaying character. I've got two already. One's a master alchemist who lives in Skingrad. The other, the Arena Grand Champion, living in Chorrol. Can somebody help me come up with another roleplaying character? Like both the alchemist, and the Champion, I want to start small, and build my way up.

At the moment, the only way of making money, and living off it that I know is buying and selling crap, potions, ingriedients etc.. and fighting. Is there any other ways I could make a sustainable income off anything else in the game, like for example, if you become head of the fighters guild, do you get a wage or something?

Any help would be much apprieciated. Im open to any ideas.

If you dont want to put effort in to it: No, there isnt.

Otherwise, alchemy is particularly profitable. You can either go out and find your own ingrediants, make potions, and sell them. Or you can buy out alchemical shops, make potions, and sell them for a small profit.

Then theres dungeon diving, find any loot you dont need? (ther will be alot of it) then keep it and sell it.

Pretty sure it's just the Arena and selling stuff, I don't remember any wages that would compare to doing the Arena.

Since you've done an alchemist, what about being a hunter or a relic dealer? Those probably wouldn't be nearly as profitable or sustainable as an alchemist though. As a hunter, the pelts and meat won't sell for as much, but at least there'd always be stuff to hunt, while a relic dealer would make a lot from the different stones and such, but eventually you'd clean out all of the ruins (except for Shadowbanish wine).

[edit] http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Roleplaying#Specific_Character_Ideas, and probably in the Character Database sticky as well. Definitely lots of mods, if you're on PC.

Fighter's Guild gives you a good amount of money.

Or you could be a thief.

Dungeon Diving is great.

Particularly if you can find a super rich patron to pay to for that.

I am surprised no one has mentioned this yet. You can steal things. Just be sure to join the Thieves Guild so you can fence your loot. You can make a pile of money from robbing the right places, like castles. A made a ton of money from Castle Leyawiin playing my thief character Kyla.
